Santander Alternative Investments (SAI) is a growing business that started almost three years ago, with c€3bn in commitments across its core strategies. The business is focused on three areas: infrastructure, private credit and real estate, where our goal is to develop funds with a clear competitive advantage to generate alpha for our institutional and UHNWI clients.

THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE

Santander Alternative Investments (SAI) is looking for an Investor Coordination and Reporting Associate based out of MADRID.

SAI currently manages or acts as investment adviser to various infrastructure and climate funds, including senior debt, junior debt/special situations, equity and venture capital. As part of the next phase of growth, SAI will launch a new:

• High-yield/junior infrastructure credit fund targeted to institutional clients. Santander will coinvest USD 200m in the fund as seed capital and coinvestment. This commitment can be drawn first to create a seed portfolio ahead of fundraising.

• Climate venture fund as a follow-on to the current fund managed by SAI.

• These funds will be marketed to institutional clients (including internal clients such as insurance) and potentially also to HNW and PB clients.

To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for:

• Support fundraising activities, including preparation of fundraising documentation, investor decks and data room management.

• Prepare quarterly and annual investor reporting pertaining to the funds managed by the infrastructure and climate VC teams in SAI.

• Act as a point of coordination between investors and the investment team, supporting responses to queries and ensuring timely follow-up.

• Support investor relations efforts, including managing information requests and assisting in capital formation initiatives.

• Assist in co-investment processes, including preparation of materials and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

• Coordinate with internal teams (risk, operations, compliance, fund administration, and finance) to ensure data accuracy and consistency.

• Support product development initiatives, investor segmentation and go-to-market activities.

• Support the development and enhancement of digital investor engagement tools, including the use of generative AI (e.g. ChatGPT) to improve reporting, automate workflows and enhance documentation quality.

• Assist in preparing ad hoc documentation and submissions for institutional and public investment programmes.

Professional Experience

• 5-10 years of experience in a relevant role, preferably within asset management, private markets or financial services.

• Experience preparing high-quality investor reports and marketing materials.

• Experience working with investment teams and supporting investor interactions.

• Good understanding of investment concepts, with ability to support discussions on co-investment opportunities.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality outputs.

• Demonstrated experience using generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT or similar) for reporting, analysis and content generation.

• High level of digital literacy and interest in leveraging technology to improve efficiency.

• Understanding of ESG considerations in investment and reporting processes.

• Experience working with or exposure to risk, valuation or compliance functions is a plus. (Preferred)

Education

• University degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field.

• Postgraduate degree and/or MBA or CFA preferred (Preferred)

Languages

• Fluency in English required

• Spanish, Portuguese or French advantageous but not essential (Preferred)

Hard Skills

• Experience preparing high-quality investor reports and marketing materials.

• Proficiency in the use of generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT) for reporting, advisory and workflow optimisation.

• Investor relations support and investment team coordination

• Familiarity with SFDR and ESG-related frameworks is a plus. (Preferred)

Soft Skills

• Strong organisational and coordination skills.

• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
