Our team builds scalable, resilient products using Python/Django on the backend and React on the frontend, all with one goal in mind: creating a smooth, meaningful experience for our learners and tutors.

We're proudly tech-agnostic, great engineers come from all kinds of backgrounds. Whether you've worked with Java/Spring, Node.js, Ruby on Rails, Scala/Play, PHP, or Go, you'll feel right at home here. Python experience isn't required.

We make decisions based on data and real user feedback: running A/B tests, shipping iteratively, and constantly improving. We also put a strong focus on observability, monitoring, and metrics, so we can keep our systems healthy and continue optimizing at scale.

At Preply, we ship 50-60 times per day, thanks to a solid CI/CD setup and a culture that values action over ceremony. What you'll be doing

• Design and deliver user-facing features using React, and TypeScript. You'll own the entire journey, from shaping the UX, to implementation, to launch and validation through our A/B experimentation framework.

• Develop backend features using Python/Django

• Help us improve our codebase and workflows by applying practical best practices across frontend, backend, and mobile.

• Collaborate with Design, Product, and Data to ideate, test, and validate user-facing experiences. Expect to dive into metrics, formulate hypotheses, analyze experiment results, and iterate quickly based on impact.

• Strike the right balance between fast delivery and long-term stability, helping us ship impactful features without adding complexity.

• Set a high bar for code quality and teamwork, and help others grow through collaboration, feedback, and good engineering practices.

What you need to succeed

• Full-Stack Expertise: This role is primarily front-end focused, with approximately 70% of the work dedicated to front-end development and 30% to back-end development, requiring solid front-end expertise and well-rounded full-stack engineering skills.

• Front-end Expertise: Strong expertise in React, Typescript, HTML5, and CSS.

• Exposure to back-end tech: Expertise in Python/Java/Node.js/Ruby/Ruby on Rails/PHP/Golang.

• Understanding Architectural Patterns: While deep backend expertise isn't required, we do value familiarity with key architectural concepts and an ability to contribute to building reliable, efficient services that support user-facing features at scale.

• Proactive Problem-Solving: You will be expected to face and solve challenges independently, both in the codebase and in our product initiatives.

• Communication Skills: Good at working with others and communicating effectively in English at a B2 level or higher.

• Ownership: You take responsibility for the quality and outcomes of your work, not just the code. You can make thoughtful technical decisions, contribute to improving our engineering practices, and support teammates through knowledge sharing and clear, constructive feedback.
