Responsibilities:

• Lead the technical planning and execution of features and projects, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
• Serve as a technical point of contact for the team: facilitate discussions, unblock engineers, provide architectural guidance, and uphold best practices.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with product and design to refine scope, estimate work, and align on timelines and priorities.
• Contribute hands-on across mobile platforms by implementing features, fixing bugs, and improving performance.

Must-have Skills

To be successful in this role, you must have:

• Experience acting as a technical lead on mobile engineering projects, guiding architecture, planning, and execution.
• Strong background in native mobile development:
• Android: Kotlin, Jetpack Compose
• iOS: Swift, SwiftUI
• Solid understanding of data structures, system design concepts, design patterns, API design, and mobile architectures (MVP, MVVM, declarative UI).
• Familiarity with Git workflows, CI/CD, and DevOps practices for mobile apps.
• Bonus: exposure to full-stack or backend technologies, cloud services, GraphQL, Firebase, or similar.
• Ability to drive technical decisions, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and align engineering work with business goals.
• Passion for news and mobile innovation; experience in journalism is a plus.

Nice-to-have Skills

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject.
• Familiarity with computer science algorithms and data structures to optimize solutions.
• Hands-on knowledge of working in an Agile environment.
