Testing Field Support (Firm Seasonal) 

         

Main Purpose

The Testing specialist is responsible for supporting variety advancement trials, ensuring the success of the plant breeding product portfolio in horticultural crops, by supporting all operational activities related to internal and external trials, planning and executing the necessary trials, and collecting phenotypic data.

This position will support the Testing Research Associates and breeding specialists of the Testing team in launching creative solutions to complex problems in the horticultural business using advanced field operations, equipment, analysis, and cutting-edge automation techniques.

Key objectives include: (i) Operations that will enable decisions driving the advancement and positioning of new improved horticultural products; (ii) delivering our integrated product pipeline to address market needs with the highest data quality.

What you'll do

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Create an integrated management team that ensures correct daily operations for field trials with growers.
  • Effective collaboration with the Testing Research Associates, Breeding specialists of the Testing team, Pipeline Enablement Associates, and Breeding Operation Associates for the execution of quality data collection and entry into business systems.
  • Support in planning to generate the necessary trials and quality data for the advancement of horticultural products and the efficient operation of breeding programs.
  • Data collection across different crops by applying the most advanced phenotyping tools.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve established procedures and lead troubleshooting activities.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Education: agronomic studies, degree in plant breeding, crop science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated skills in executing breeding project plans, analyzing and interpreting breeding data.
  • Ability to perform successfully in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-based environment. Manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of management in a multicultural organization.
  • Strategic and analytical skills and understanding of how to apply them to achieve business results.
