We are hiring a Senior Scientist for the Analytical & Formulation Sciences team, with expertise in mass spectrometry and biophysical methods to characterize protein therapeutics and complex modalities.

This role will build and expand in-house molecular characterization capabilities, developability assessments, and comparability studies for R&D projects. Responsibilities include developing mass spectrometry workflows, designing characterization studies, supporting collaborations across discovery and development, and advancing our diverse dermatology portfolio. The position also involves coordinating experimental initiatives and encouraging scientific innovation.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop methods and conduct characterization studies of proteins, mRNA, and related modalities (SEC-MALS, DLS, DSC, intact mass, peptide mapping, post-translational modification profiling, impurity identification, etc).

• Drive scientific input into developability assessments, proactively identify and address technical risks, and recommend mitigation strategies to ensure robust product progression.

• Design and perform developability and comparability studies to evaluate molecular integrity, stability, and formulation compatibility.

• Collaborate closely with formulation scientists to link structural attributes with biophysical behavior and product performance.

• Support analytical method development and transfer to CDMOs and other partners.

• Interpret complex analytical datasets and communicate clear scientific conclusions and recommendations.

• Contribute to analytical strategy, technical reviews, and regulatory documentation (where applicable).

• Scout, implement, and validate new analytical technologies to enhance the team's capability portfolio.

• Act as a scientific mentor for junior staff and support training within the Analytical & Formulation Sciences lab.

• Troubleshoot complex analytical challenges, proposing scientifically sound solutions to advance project objectives.

• Serve as a key reference expert in mass spectrometry and biologics in medical dermatology, representing the organisation at international conferences, leading external communication plans, and engaging with the broader scientific community.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
• ≥5 years of relevant experience in proteins/or nucleic acid analytical development (industry or postdoctoral).
• Deep expertise in mass spectrometry for large-molecule characterization (LC-MS, native MS, peptide mapping).
• Proven experience with biophysical techniques for higher-order structure and stability (SEC-MALS, DSC, DLS, CD, FTIR, AUC).
• Strong understanding of developability assessments and product comparability principles for biologics.
• Strong protein characterization background is necessary. Familiarity with mRNA analytics (integrity, capping, modification analysis) is a strong plus.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret data critically, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive projects independently.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Experience in non-GxP research and/or GxP environments advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting at international scientific meetings.
