About the role

Do you have experience as a pressure group technician?

At Randstad, we are looking for candidates like you!

What you'll do

  1. Re-stamping and pressure testing (five-yearly tests)

Hydrostatic testing: This is the main task. It involves introducing water at high pressure into the extinguisher shell or gas cylinder (usually at 1.43 times its service pressure, with a minimum of 20 bar) to check that the metal has no micro-cracks, deformations or corrosion and is 100% safe.

Legal compliance: Certifying that extinguishers pass this mandatory test, which is carried out every 5 years (with a maximum useful life of the equipment of 20 years).

  1. Recharging and pressurizing equipment

Loading extinguishing agents: Emptying, cleaning and refilling extinguishers with their corresponding agent (ABC dry chemical powder, water with additives, or CO2).

Pressurization: Introducing the propellant gas (generally dry nitrogen) at the exact working pressure so that the gauge sits perfectly in the green operating zone.

  1. Maintenance and replacement of pressure components

Disassembling, cleaning and thoroughly inspecting valves, hoses, diffusers and pressure gauges.

Replacing worn sealing gaskets and O-rings to prevent pressure micro-leaks throughout the year.

  1. Maintenance of fixed systems and pressure groups (depending on specialization)

If the technician works in the field (customer installations) as well as in the workshop, they are responsible for checking the water pressure groups that supply the fire hose reels (BIEs) and sprinkler systems, ensuring that the pumps start at the programmed pressure and maintain the required flow rate.

Inspection of fixed gas extinguishing systems (such as in server rooms), checking the weight, condition and pressure of the inert or chemical gas cylinders.

  1. Completing reports and labeling

Affixing the mandatory maintenance labels and inspection cards detailing the date of the pressure test and its expiry.

Digitally recording the work carried out to issue official reports in accordance with the UNE 23580 standard, ensuring traceability for inspections or insurance company audits.
