Thompson English Academy is looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated English teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 academic year.
The position is a fixed-discontinuous contract (contrato fijo discontinuo) running from 15 September to 15 June.
Our academy is located in Sanlúcar la Mayor, approximately 20 km from Seville. We teach students from three years old through to adults and are proud members of ACEIA (Asociación de Centros de Enseñanza de Idiomas de Andalucía) and FECEI (Federation of Language Schools of Spain).
The role
The position is for 18 hours per week, Monday to Thursday from 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
Teaching hours are:
Monday & Wednesday: 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Tuesday & Thursday: 4:00 pm - 7:30 pm
The remaining working hours are allocated to lesson planning, preparation, marking, reports, and other teaching administration.
The successful candidate will teach a range of learners from Year 1 Primary through to B2-level teenagers, preparing students for both internal assessments and Cambridge examinations.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:
  • EU citizenship or a valid Spanish work permit.
  • CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL or an equivalent TEFL qualification.
  • Experience teaching young learners and teenagers.
  • Experience preparing students for Cambridge examinations.
  • Good organisational and lesson planning skills.
  • A professional, friendly and approachable manner.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Own transport is required.
A Young Learner qualification and previous experience in a private language academy would be an advantage.
As this position involves working with children, the successful applicant will be required to provide an International Child Protection Certificate (ICPC), or equivalent from their country of origin, together with a Spanish Certificado de Delitos de Naturaleza Sexual (or the relevant documentation required to work with minors in Spain).
