Mission of the position
To carry out advisory and supervisory tasks in the three regulatory specialties of occupational safety, Industrial hygiene, and Ergonomics and psychosocial factors across the different sites, in accordance with current legal regulations, state, regional, and local regulations, as well as internal guidelines. Particularly, according to internal specialization, to carry out tasks related to process and plant safety, industrial safety and emergency management and response, people safety, intellectual property, transport of dangerous goods, HSEQ management system, Product Stewardship, and products, in accordance with current legal regulations, state, regional, and local regulations, as well as internal guidelines.

Main functions and responsibilities
• Support in the development of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for repetitive processes in the process units, to establish safe procedures with integrated risk analysis.
• Conducting field audits and safety observations to identify areas for improvement in safety and prevent incidents at the site.
• Coordination and supervision of work carried out by external service companies to improve the application of internal regulations and conduct audits to help improve safety in their services at the site.
• Technical experience in chemical processes and in the activities of the specialties to have a critical view from a safety standpoint and contribute global best practices being implemented in the sector.
• Proven field experience carrying out activities in the sector, allowing for a solution-oriented approach to find ways to approach work with the highest safety standards and in accordance with international safety regulations.
• Define and develop the prevention plan, as well as the resulting preventive planning, to promote prevention within the company in general, and particularly within their specialization, and its integration.
• Conduct initial and periodic occupational risk assessments, as well as the measurement strategy and its interpretation, ensuring that the results obtained characterize the situation being assessed and/or a non-mechanical interpretation/application of the assessment criteria.
• Propose measures for risk control and reduction based on the assessment results, monitor compliance with the risk control and reduction program, and personally carry out assigned workplace condition control activities.
• Within the specialization, collaborate and participate in the development of self-protection plans, actions in emergency/fire-fighting situations, first aid, facility safety analysis, own inspections, etc.
• Provide training on occupational risk prevention and the corresponding training within the specialization.
• Coordinate and monitor the health surveillance of workers with the external Prevention Service contracted for this purpose, ensuring health surveillance is carried out according to the risks of each job position.
• Support, coordinate, and provide assistance in the preventive activities of the site/plant prevention technicians, as well as to those responsible for the units/departments in fulfilling their obligations, as well as in relations with and visits from representatives of public administrations and official bodies.
• Maintaining records for public administrations regarding products commercialized by Covestro in Spain (INTCS).
• Maintenance of the HSEQ management system and derived documentation: risk & opportunity assessments, legislative monitoring, etc.
• Monitoring all Industrial and Process Safety regulations.
• Conducting and coordinating inspections with authorized external entities, inspection plans at the site, in addition to the role of internal inspector and practitioner.

What we're looking for


Requirements (education, knowledge, and experience)
• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or similar.
• Master's degree in Occupational Risk Prevention with all three specialties (mandatory)
• English: minimum B2, German knowledge will be valued.
• Knowledge of Process Safety in chemical plants.
• Experience in industrial production processes.
• Experience in quality control and laboratory analysis in a chemical environment.
• Knowledge of HSEQ regulations (ISO, OSHA, or other equivalent standards).
• Communication skills, influence, and cross-functional leadership.
• Skills for providing training
