About the role

🛰️ Navigation & Visual Perception Engineer - Autonomous UAS Systems - Leading the future of unmanned aerial systems. San Fernando de Henares (hybrid)

At Indra Group, we protect what matters most.

Are you passionate about autonomous navigation, computer vision, and sensor fusion in environments where GNSS is not always available? We are looking for a Navigation & Visual Perception Engineer to develop, integrate, and validate advanced navigation, state estimation, SLAM, and perception algorithms for UAS platforms and next-generation autonomous systems.

You will work on critical solutions so that our systems can localize, orient, perceive, and navigate robustly in real time, even in complex, degraded, or GNSS-denied scenarios.

What you'll do

  • You will develop sensor fusion algorithms to estimate position, velocity, attitude, and full system pose.
  • You will implement robust navigation solutions in dynamic, uncertain, or GNSS-degraded environments.
  • You will work with estimation techniques such as Kalman Filter, EKF, UKF and loosely/tightly coupled fusion architectures.
  • You will develop algorithms for Visual Odometry, Visual-Inertial Odometry, and Visual SLAM.
  • You will implement real-time localization and mapping capabilities.
  • You will design vision-based perception solutions for detection, tracking, landmark recognition, and object classification.
  • You will contribute to GNC architectures where visual navigation is a key component.
  • You will fuse information from GNSS, INS/IMU, magnetometers, altimeters, cameras, LiDAR, and RADAR.
  • You will design multimodal pipelines such as:
  • GNSS/INS + magnetometer.
  • INS + altimeter.
  • Visual-Inertial Fusion / VIO.
  • LiDAR-Inertial SLAM.
  • You will model sensor errors: IMU bias and noise, hard/soft iron distortions in magnetometers, barometric drift, or AGL estimation using altimeters.
  • You will implement algorithms for Visual SLAM, LiDAR SLAM, and Graph-based SLAM.
  • You will work with optimization back-ends based on factor graphs.
  • You will optimize solutions for relative localization, real-time mapping, and autonomous navigation.
  • You will apply vision techniques such as ORB, SIFT, SURF, feature tracking, and real-time object detection.
  • You will integrate software into embedded systems with real-time constraints.
  • You will optimize latency, robustness, stability, and computational efficiency.
  • You will work with platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson, especially Orin, deploying vision and AI models.
  • You will optimize inference with CUDA, TensorRT, and efficient CPU/GPU/memory management.
  • You will validate algorithms through simulation, SIL/HIL, laboratory testing, and field or flight trials.
  • You will analyze system accuracy, availability, integrity, and robustness.
  • You will tune models and algorithms to ensure performance in demanding operational scenarios.

What you'll get

  • Stability and Future 🏢✨: Long-term projects at a leading Defense company with more than 60,000 professionals, offering financial security.
  • Innovative and High-Impact Projects 🚀: You will work with cutting-edge technologies, with an impact both nationally and internationally.
