About the role

At Amazon, we have designed a unique and innovative program. We want to be part of your educational journey and help you gain professional experience while you train. So, if you have a passion and motivation for the field of Industrial Automation, this is the program for you. A one-of-a-kind program in Spain where you will train to earn a Master's Degree with 100% scholarship funding, while gaining professional experience through paid work at our fulfillment centers.

Key job responsibilities

We offer you a unique opportunity to train while gaining professional experience through a two-year program, in which you will obtain the official Master's Degree in Electromechanical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the professional experience needed to join our RME (Reliability, Maintenance, and Engineering) teams at our fulfillment centers.

The program has the following structure:

  • You will study the Master's Degree in Electromechanical Engineering. You can check its website at the following link: https://www.upm.es/Estudiantes/Estudios_Titulaciones/Estudios_Master/Programas?id=56.2&fmt=detail).

It will be in a work-study format, so your work schedule will be adjusted to balance your class and self-study hours with your hands-on work experience hours.

  • You will receive additional training in areas such as Risk Prevention, English, and technical skills (PLCs, etc.)
  • You will complete the work-based learning portion of your training by working at the fulfillment center you applied to. During these periods, you will work shifts that are pre-established and adapted to your academic schedule.
  • Throughout the entire program, you will have the support of a mentor (tutor) who will help you succeed both during your time at the educational institution and at our fulfillment centers. You will also be able to complete your Master's Thesis (TFM) on a practical topic within our fulfillment centers and see the results of your work applied in real life.

During the learning program, you will work towards achieving the following objectives:

  • Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, as well as understand and develop strategies to improve code in accordance with IEC 61131-3.
  • Work hands-on, actively monitoring to identify faults and repair systems, in order to ensure a high level of equipment availability for our internal customers.
  • Train the technical team in basic concepts of fault detection in control systems to raise the level of knowledge within the site.
  • Work within the EU Control Network to improve the ability to monitor MHE (Material Handling Equipment) metrics and provide visibility and data to internal customers through prioritization and problem resolution.
  • Actively participate in or lead continuous improvement projects, coordinated by the EU Control Network.
  • Achieve an SME (Subject Matter Expert) level of knowledge of all control systems and sensors within the site.
  • Work with IT, Controls Engineering, and EU Operations Engineering to ensure that all systems are properly documented and that an accurate and up-to-date support library is maintained.
  • Work with global teams to support the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Support other sites within the EU network as needed.

Structure of the Learning Program:

You will sign a work-study training contract that allows you to alternate your studies with professional experience over a 2-year period (the Master's program curriculum will be structured so you can complete it in two years).

You will start the learning program at the end of August 2026, studying the Master's degree in a work-study format (classes will be scheduled within your working hours), where you will gain all the foundational knowledge for this profession, which you will then put into practice at our fulfillment centers.

Throughout the entire program, you will have the support of a person who will be your mentor (tutor) at the fulfillment center. At the same time, you will receive the necessary technical support from our company's professionals to ensure a good transfer of knowledge and to develop skills related to our specific technologies.

At our fulfillment centers, you will be able to immerse yourself in this profession, spending time with our teams and experiencing day-to-day tasks, always under the supervision and guidance of a mentor (tutor) from our team of professionals.

Once you have successfully completed and graduated from the Master's program, we want you to be able to continue your journey with us and apply for one of the Automation Engineering positions that may be available at our fulfillment centers.

Our program is perfect if you want to combine theoretical learning with practical experience and earn a salary while you train and gain professional experience.
