Learn more about the area:

The BBVA Microfinance Foundation Group aims to maximize the impact it generates on the vulnerable small entrepreneurs it serves in five Latin American countries.

To achieve this, the Impact team drives an applied research agenda: it develops studies, analytical models, and use cases that make it possible to better understand the reality, needs, and behavior of entrepreneurs, guide the value proposition, and support them in their socioeconomic progress.

The team works at the intersection of data, customer knowledge, commercial strategy, and experimentation. Its purpose is not only to measure impact, but also to use evidence to design solutions, test them in the field, and facilitate the integration of those that generate value for customers and for the business.

About the job

This position offers the opportunity to apply advanced analytics to one of the main challenges of financial inclusion in Latin America: helping millions of entrepreneurs strengthen their businesses, improve their financial resilience, and generate sustainable well-being for their households.

The selected candidate will be able to combine Data Science, innovation, customer knowledge, and social impact methodology, participating directly in the creation and validation of solutions.

Role objective

Design and develop analytical models, studies, and pilots that increase the social impact of the FMBBVA Group, improve the value proposition for entrepreneurs, and accelerate the sustainable growth of the business.
The selected candidate will transform customer, business, and territory data into concrete decisions, interventions, and solutions. They will work from the identification of a need or hypothesis through to the design of the model or pilot, its execution, and its evaluation for scaling.
They must work closely with the teams responsible for data, commercial, technology, finance, and risk to ensure the quality, viability, and sustainability of the solutions.

Main responsibilities:

1. Customer knowledge and applied research

  • Design quantitative studies that make it possible to understand the economic, social, and business reality of the entrepreneurs served by the Group.

  • Analyze the evolution of customers over time and identify patterns related to their growth, resilience, vulnerability, formalization, digitalization, and well-being.

  • Analyze information from surveys, interviews, commercial interactions, digital channels, and transactional behavior.

  • Formulate research questions and hypotheses that can be translated into commercial decisions, new products, services, or service models.

  • Combine transactional, financial, sociodemographic, geographic, and survey data or other customer listening mechanisms.

  • Turn complex statistical results into clear, actionable conclusions for business teams.

  • Develop and improve corporate impact measurement methodologies.

  • Contribute to the generation and dissemination of knowledge on financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and social impact.

2. Development of commercial and impact models

  • Design models (time series, segmentation models, estimation models, etc.) that make it possible to identify different entrepreneur profiles according to their needs and anticipate relevant behaviors.

  • Design recommendation systems and next-best-product, service, content, or action models.

  • Develop tracking indicators that make it possible to analyze the value generated for the customer and for the institution.

  • Incorporate geomarketing and spatial analysis techniques to identify commercial opportunities, service gaps, and territorial needs.

  • Evaluate new data sources that improve the performance, reach, and explainability of models.

  • Ensure that models are robust, interpretable, and usable by the teams.

3. Preparation of analytical information: database quality and model maintenance

  • Work with the Data and Technology teams to ensure the integrity, consistency, and traceability of the information used.

  • Build and maintain analytical datasets suitable for the models, studies, and pilots under their responsibility.

  • Define specific quality controls for the variables and sources used in the analyses.

  • Collaborate on the evolution of the corporate information repository and the incorporation of new sources.

  • Participate, when necessary, in initiatives related to the corporate information system, data architecture, or data migration.

  • Document the data, variables, methodologies, and assumptions used in the models.

  • Design dashboards and tracking tools that make it possible to visualize commercial and impact indicators.

  • Prepare reports and ad hoc analyses linked to strategic decisions or priority initiatives.

  • Present results to technical teams, business areas, and management bodies.

  • Explain in simple terms the implications, limitations, and possible uses of the models.

This responsibility does not imply taking on as a main function the operational execution of monthly loads or the general maintenance of the data platform.
