About the role

CIC energiGUNE is seeking a candidate to carry out a PhD within the framework of an MSCA doctoral network, Grant Agreement No. 101311389, funded by the European Commission.

The aim of the project is to understand how solid-solid interfaces in next-generation batteries evolve under operating conditions and how this evolution affects ionic transport, degradation, and safety. The candidate will use quantum mechanics simulations, complemented by advanced machine learning-based potentials, to model how charges, atoms, ions, and defects move across buried electrode-electrolyte interfaces that are difficult to access experimentally. The work will be carried out in close collaboration with the other project partners, ensuring that experimental and theoretical results feed back into each other iteratively.

  • Conduct high-quality research within the scope of the project
  • Prepare reports and articles for submission to peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Present results at international conferences.
  • Supervise master's students and visiting researchers when necessary.
