On the Murcian coast, bathed by the Mediterranean and just minutes from the province of Almería, we find the city of Águilas. A tourist town with beautiful beaches and coves carved among fossil dunes that stays very ALIVE all year round.

With 38K inhabitants, the city experiences spectacular population growth during the summer months, receiving visitors from both national and international backgrounds. It is also the second home of many residents of Lorca, 100K just 20 minutes away, as well as Andalusians, Murcians and Madrilenians. The city lives mainly from tourism, agriculture and fishing, with a significant presence of companies in this sector. Worth highlighting is its carnival of international tourist interest, as well as its rich and varied gastronomy based on seafood and garden produce.

From a sporting perspective, it is a very active city, surrounded both by the coast and inland by cycle lanes where locals enjoy going out for walks, runs, skating or cycling. In addition to all water sports, fitness, running, triathlon, cycling, fishing and hiking are also important. For the latter, there are numerous routes in the vicinity of the beautiful Cabo Cope Regional Park. In the case of triathlon, Águilas is a regular venue for national and even world championships in this discipline. For all this, in 2023 it received the prestigious National Sports Award granted by the CSD.

En plena costa murciana, bañada por el Mediterráneo y a escasos minutos de la provincia de Almería, encontramos la ciudad de Águilas. Localidad turística de hermosas playas y calas esculpidas entre dunas fósiles que se mantiene muy VIVA todo el año.

Con 38K habitantes, la ciudad vive un crecimiento de población espectacular los meses de verano, recibiendo visitantes de índole nacional e internacional. Además, es la segunda residencia de muchos habitantes de Lorca, 100K a 20 minutos, aparte de andaluces, murcianos y madrileños. La ciudad vive fundamentalmente del turismo, la agricultura y la pesca, con importante presencia de empresas de este sector. A destacar su carnaval de interés turístico internacional así como su rica y variada gastronomía basada en los productos del mar y de la huerta.

Deportivamente, es una ciudad muy activa, rodeada tanto por la costa como por el interior de sendos carriles ciclables donde el aguileño disfruta de salir a pasear, correr, patinar o montar en bici. Son importantes además de todos los deportes de agua, el fitness, el running, el triatlón, el ciclismo, la pesca y el senderismo. Para este último existen multitud de rutas en las inmediaciones del bellísimo Parque Regional de Cabo Cope. En el caso del triatlón, Águilas es sede habitual de campeonatos nacionales e incluso mundiales de esta disciplina. Por todo ello recibió en 2023 el prestigioso Premio Nacional de Deporte otorgado por el CSD.
