About the role

Backed by GCO Ventures and Byld, we are building Maia Care: a new startup whose mission is to help women manage perimenopause and menopause symptoms holistically, through a personalized, evidence-based digital platform.

We are looking for someone to join us as Head of Engineering to turn Maia Care's business vision into product and technology decisions, leading the evolution of the MVP and helping build a differentiated experience for our users.

You will work hand-in-hand with the CEO, with real ownership over product, technology, and AI. You will join as part of the founding team, with a phantom shares package that ties you to the company's growth and success from day one.

What you'll do

Technology + AI:

  • Define and lead the technical vision for Maia Care, making decisions on architecture, stack, infrastructure, integrations, and data models to build a secure and scalable platform.

  • Actively implement AI solutions for both development and product, identifying opportunities to incorporate models, agents, and automations that create value for users and the business.

  • Evaluate technologies, tools, partners, and third-party services, participating in budget, priority, and resource allocation decisions to maximize impact and execution speed.

  • Actively participate in defining and evolving the MVP, translating business goals and user needs into a clear and executable product roadmap.

  • Lead fast learning, validation, and iteration cycles through prototypes, experimentation, data analysis, and continuous feedback.

  • Define and monitor product and business KPIs to guide decision-making, validate hypotheses, and maximize impact.

  • Act as the product and technology reference, representing Maia Care with partners, vendors, and other technical stakeholders.

  • Coordinate external technology resources available in Maia Care's early stages, promoting an agile way of working based on prioritization, sprints, and impact focus.

  • Define the capabilities, profiles, and structure needed to progressively build the internal product and technology team, contributing to hiring, organization, and growth.

Tech Stack: Next.js, TypeScript, Nest.js, Strapi, and Google Cloud, incorporating AI, agents, and automations as a core part of the product.

Nice to have

  • Experience building products from early stages (0→1, MVP, or early stage), with responsibility over product in addition to technology.

  • Previous experience founding or being part of founding teams.

  • Knowledge of healthtech, femtech, wellbeing, or related sectors.

What you'll get

  • Opportunity to build a product from scratch as part of the founding team, with a high level of ownership and direct impact.

  • A venture building environment that combines autonomy with access to the resources, knowledge, and network of GCO Ventures and Byld.

  • A purpose-driven project, focused on solving a real problem with social impact.

  • Office in the center of Barcelona.

  • Hybrid model (2 days of remote work per week).

We are committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic team. If this role excites you but your experience does not meet all the requirements, we encourage you to apply anyway.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in technical leadership roles with a high degree of ownership, ideally in startups or fast-paced environments.

  • Solid experience building software platforms and making decisions on architecture, development, and infrastructure (ideally on our stack or equivalent technologies).

  • Hands-on experience incorporating AI into development and product, through models, agents, automations, or next-generation tools.

  • Good understanding of the product lifecycle, with the ability to translate business goals and user needs into requirements, priorities, and execution plans.

  • Experience working with agile methodologies, early validation, experimentation, and data-driven decision-making.

  • Analytical ability to define and monitor product and business KPIs.

  • Experience leading and coordinating technical teams, both internal and external, as well as managing vendors and technology resources.

  • A hands-on mindset, combining strategic thinking with the ability to execute when needed.

  • Excellent communication skills in Spanish and English.
