About the role

At ING we are looking for an ESG Intern (COO Office)

Your role and work environment:

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic ESG Intern to join the Sustainability team of the COO Office, within the Center of Excellence of the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

The responsibility of this team is to help make ING Spain and Portugal's sustainability strategy a reality, integrating it into everything we do and how we do it. Within the bank and the COO area, our main responsibility is to lead the way towards net zero emissions well before 2050. To achieve this, we implement the most effective methodologies and tools, which allow us to assess and improve the impact of our own environmental footprint and our banking processes.

What you'll do

As an ESG Intern, you will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating in the implementation, monitoring, and execution of ING Spain's annual Sustainability strategy, translating our vision into specific actions with measurable results.
  • Helping to integrate sustainability into the company's DNA, culture, dynamics, and processes, developing initiatives related to financial education and social inclusion, as well as others aimed at reducing our own footprint in Spain.
  • Providing support in organizing sustainability events and volunteer activities to boost ING professionals' commitment to ESG initiatives, as well as participation metrics.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives across different areas, supporting the ESG roadmap and performance reports.
  • Helping to implement internal and external communication actions to position the company as a sustainable and socially responsible organization, maintaining a close relationship with the Communications, Public Affairs, and Brand teams.

Requirements

Master's degree or bachelor's degree in a field related to sustainability or with a genuine interest in ESG topics.

Previous experience in environmental or social inclusion activities, data analysis, reporting, or process management will be valued.

High ambition and energy: ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and achieve results with a proactive attitude.

Strong teamwork skills, ability to work in a multidisciplinary/international environment and lead areas across the entire organization.

Fluency in English is required.

Passion for innovation and new trends.

Supplier management, budgeting, and event planning skills.
