About the role

At Sener Aerospace and Defense, we continue to expand our teams thanks to the sustained growth of projects in Space and Defense.

We are looking to bring on board Senior FPGA Engineers for electronic equipment in the Electromechanical Systems Division (SEM).

The SEM division is a leading supplier of electromechanical and control systems for the world's main space agencies (NASA, ESA, JAXA, Roscosmos), having participated for decades in highly critical space and defense programs.

The position is aimed at profiles with a solid technical background in FPGA, who want to continue actively participating in design, development, and validation, and who can act as technical references within the team, collaborating with other engineers and providing expertise in complex projects.

What you'll do

What you will do:

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team (hardware, software, and mechanics) that develops equipment used to test and validate the control electronics and mechanisms of space and defense systems, such as antenna pointing systems, robotic couplings and anchors, telescope focusing and scanning systems, among others.

In your day-to-day work, you will actively participate in technical development, and you may also collaborate in the technical coordination of activities within the project.

  • Define requirements for the detailed FPGA specification

  • Define the FPGA architecture

  • Coding following design rules and standards

  • Verification through simulations and testbenches

  • Validation through hardware testing

  • Code coverage checks

  • Synthesis, implementation, and bitstream generation

  • Place & route implementation

  • Process automation through scripts

  • Writing the associated documentation

  • Attendance at technical reviews with the client

Specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • Define requirements for the detailed FPGA specification

  • Defining the FPGA architecture

  • Coding using design rules

  • Verification through simulations using testbenches

  • Validation through hardware testing

  • Performing code coverage checks

  • Performing synthesis, implementation, and bitstream generation

  • Place and route implementation

  • Automating prior processes through scripts

  • Writing the associated documentation

  • Attendance at reviews with the client

What we're looking for

What we expect from you:

  • Education in electronic, industrial, or telecommunications engineering.

  • Advanced level of English.

  • At least 3 years of experience in the position offered.

  • Experience in hardware description languages (VHDL/Verilog).
Knowledge of development environments for FPGA design (Modelsim, Vivado, etc.), synthesis (Synplify, Vivado), and place & route (Libero, Vivado).

  • Experience coordinating development teams

Nice to have

  • Valuable knowledge in:

    • Knowledge of robotics, sensors, and motors

    • Serial communication buses: RS-232/485/422, USB, SPI, I2C, Modbus, Visa, CAN bus, or similar

    • Process automation

    • Unit testing, integration, and continuous development

    • Code version control tools and bug tracking tools

    • Agile development such as Scrum

    • Designing digital and analog hardware: schematic design, commissioning, and prototype testing.

    • Handling and use of laboratory measuring instruments

    • FPGA development following DO-254 or similar safety standards

    • Knowledge of regulations (ECSS, IPC, MIL, etc.)

    • Knowledge of some of the following tools:
      - FPGA development tools (HDL designer, Xilinx Vivado IDE, Altera Quartus IDE).
      - Script languages (Python, TCL, Bash)
      - Git version control tool.
      - Task management tools such as JIRA, Redmine, or ECLIPSE

What you'll get
