About the role

The Pre-Sales Solutions Engineer plays a key role in helping customers solve complex challenges in their production processes. Combining technical expertise, application knowledge, and solution design capabilities, you will work closely with customers and sales teams to develop customized processing solutions that improve operational performance and deliver measurable value.

From product demonstrations and performance validation to system design, quotations, and solution development, you will act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the entire customer journey.

What you'll do

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Supporting the consultative sales process as a technical and applications specialist.
  • Analyzing customer processes, production requirements, and expected outcomes to develop tailored solutions.
  • Preparing technical specifications, solution designs, performance analyses, quotations, and supporting documentation.
  • Designing and evaluating processing systems, layouts, and integrated solutions, including third-party equipment when necessary.
  • Conducting product demonstrations, on-site trials, testing, validation activities, and performance optimization projects.
  • Analyzing process performance, equipment utilization, and operational data to identify optimization and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Providing technical guidance on equipment configuration and application performance.
  • Delivering technical presentations, webinars, customer workshops, and reference visits.
  • Supporting Sales and Service teams through application training, troubleshooting, and technical support for customers.
  • Evaluating technical, operational, and commercial requirements to recommend solutions that balance performance, reliability, scalability, and profitability.
  • Participating in design reviews with multidisciplinary teams and ensuring successful handover of projects to implementation teams.
  • Maintaining solution documentation, standard specifications, and application resources in central systems.
  • Monitoring industry trends, customer needs, and competitor capabilities to support solution development and business growth.
  • Sharing knowledge, best practices, and application expertise across the wider TOMRA Food organization.

Requirements

  • University degree in Engineering, Technology, Automation, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience in AgriFood processing, food processing, automation, material handling, or related equipment industries.
  • Professional proficiency in Spanish and English.
  • Experience supporting customers in sales, applications, service, technical support, process engineering, or solution development roles.
  • Experience in technical positions with direct customer contact.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, specifications, proposals, and customer presentations.
  • Experience in system design, process evaluation, and equipment integration.
  • Knowledge of CAD software and design tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar.
  • Structured approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong customer orientation and excellent communication skills.
  • Valid work authorization or visa, as applicable.
  • Availability to travel up to 30% within the EMEA region.
  • Valid driver's license with no restrictions.
