About the role

In the Infrastructure and Transport area, we want to expand the Railways team with a Civil Engineer with solid experience to take on the role of Project Author / Project Director in Railway Project drafting contracts with national, regional, or local railway administrators (ADIF, ADIF Alta Velocidad, Dirección General de Planificación y Evaluación de Red, Metro Madrid, etc.).

  • Leadership and coordination of multidisciplinary teams: Manage design teams for medium and large-scale railway infrastructure and superstructure projects, ensuring effective integration of resources from multiple offices.
  • Strategic project management: Develop and oversee execution plans aligned with client objectives and project requirements, ensuring efficient, high-quality delivery.
  • Technical decision-making: Provide specialized technical expertise in railway infrastructures, leading day-to-day decisions that optimize designs and construction methods.
  • Deliverable supervision: Review and approve design calculations, technical reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates, ensuring compliance with local and international standards and client specifications.
  • Optimization and quality control: Carry out value engineering assessments to optimize designs, materials, and construction methods, maintaining rigorous quality control and leading interdisciplinary reviews.
  • Financial management: Oversee budget preparation and cost control, ensuring project financial objectives are met.
  • Client and stakeholder relations: Lead client communication and manage stakeholder expectations throughout the entire project lifecycle.
  • Talent development: Mentor, train, and evaluate junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and strengthening team performance.

What we're looking for

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (Ingeniería de Caminos, Canales y Puertos).

  • More than 20 years of experience in railway projects.

  • Proven experience in construction project leadership, preferably with national public-sector clients.

  • Solid experience in one or more of the following areas: linear infrastructures (railways), bridges and structures, tunnels and geotechnical engineering, hydraulic and drainage systems.

  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation), design and modeling tools (Bentley OpenRoads/OpenRail, PowerRail Track, Civil3D), and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Familiarity with national and international codes and standards such as ADIF regulations, Eurocodes, AASHTO, AREMA, British Standards, or equivalent.

  • Excellent communication skills in Spanish (oral and written).

  • Ability to work flexibly in a hybrid environment.
