We are looking to bring in a Control and Protection Systems Technician to join the Control and Protection Systems Department of Red Eléctrica.

What you'll do

1. Define the philosophy, design criteria and application of protection systems for the transmission grid.
2. Specify and approve the equipment and materials that are part of protection and control systems.
3. Define, propose and establish the general maintenance criteria for protection and control assets, as well as monitor their implementation and ensure compliance.
4. Manage and validate the action requirements of assets throughout their useful life.
5. Generate and update the technical documentation required to carry out maintenance work, while also ensuring compliance with procedures and existing regulations.
6. Propose technological and development action lines, conducting studies and technical analyses to improve maintenance practices and the management of protection and control assets.
7. Participate in the activities carried out at the Integrated Facilities Maintenance Center (CMI2):
- Lead technical studies and analyses of asset behavior resulting from transmission grid disturbances or specific faults.
- Intervene in the energization process and in the transfer of new facilities.
- Lead specialized technical support for protection and control assets.
8. Define and propose asset monitoring requirements that facilitate real-time analysis and decision-making.

Requirements

  • Qualification: Degree in Industrial Engineering (electrical, electronics, electrotechnics, telecommunications).
  • Training and valued experience:
    - Analysis of incidents and operation of electrical power systems.
    - IEC 61850 standard and associated tools.
    - Programming (databases, etc.) and IoT communication protocols.
    - Testing, commissioning and putting into service of protection systems.
    - Engineering of protection and control systems for electrical substations.
    - Setting and configuration of protections and control systems.
    - Wide-area protection systems with synchrophasors/PMUs (WAMPAC, etc.)
  • Languages: English (B2).
  • Computer skills: Office and collaborative tools such as TEAMS and Power BI.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in the field of protection systems and remote control (analysis of incidents/faults in equipment, maintenance).
  • Availability to work on-call shifts.
  • Travel is required (5% annually within the national territory).
