Job description

GTB & Structured Finance Middle Office Analyst Country: Spain

IT'S TIME

Santander (www.santander.com) is evolving from being a high-impact global brand into a technology-driven organization, with people at the center of this journey. Together, we are leading a customer-centric transformation that values disruptive thinking, the courage to challenge what's possible, and the ability to innovate.

This is more than a strategic shift: it's an opportunity to grow, learn, and make a real impact.

Our mission is to help more people and businesses prosper. We embrace a strong risk culture and expect all our teams to take a proactive and responsible approach to risk management.

Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (Santander CIB) is the global division that provides support to the world's most complex and sophisticated corporate and institutional clients, offering personalized services and high-value wholesale products.

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE

Santander CIB is looking for an Associate to join the SCIB Secondary Trading Middle Office team, based in Madrid.

The position is within the SCIB Loan Execution Middle Office. The Secondary Trading Middle Office team provides support to the secondary loan trading activity within Leveraged Finance at Santander Corporate & Investment Banking, acting as the link between Front Office and Back Office throughout the entire transaction lifecycle.

The team supports purchase and sale transactions from deal onboarding and facility setup to trade booking, document review, execution in ClearPar, booking in Loan IQ, settlement monitoring, and ongoing portfolio maintenance.

Secondary Trading Middle Office sits at the center of the execution process, working closely with Trading Desk / Front Office, Sales, Risk, KYC, Tax, Legal, Proposal Team, Back Office, Fund Managers, Agent Banks, and counterparties to ensure transactions are processed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with internal requirements.

The role offers direct exposure to the secondary leveraged loan market and enables the development of in-depth knowledge of the operational, documentary, and settlement lifecycle of transactions, including servicing events and flows related to TRS.

The team promotes a strong digital culture with an "AI-first" mindset, integrating generative artificial intelligence and advanced digital tools into daily workflows to enhance productivity, quality of execution, and decision-making.

The role offers the opportunity to work in Madrid, within a key hub of SCIB, with close interaction with global teams.

We are redefining the way we work through innovation, cutting-edge technology, collaboration, and continuous process improvement.

In this role, your main responsibilities will include:

• Provide end-to-end operational support for Secondary Trading transactions, including onboarding, document review, trade confirmation, and coordination with relevant stakeholders.

• Act as the central point of contact between Front Office, Back Office, Risk, KYC, Legal, Tax, Sales, Fund Managers, Agent Banks, and external counterparties.

• Ensure transactions are accurately and timely registered, documented, and reflected in internal systems and tools.

• Monitor transaction progress and proactively resolve issues, dependencies, and documentary bottlenecks to avoid settlement delays.

• Review Trade Confirmations, Transfer Documents, and Pricing Letters, ensuring alignment with approved terms, LMA standards, and internal requirements prior to execution.

• Manage multiple transactions and lifecycle events simultaneously, including amendments, refinancings, repricings, prepayments, rollovers, spread changes, and TRS economic events.

Professional experience

• Between 2 and 4 years of relevant experience, ideally in Middle Office, Loan Trading, Leveraged Finance, or transaction execution environments within Corporate & Investment Banking. (Required)

• Experience working with multiple internal and external stakeholders in complex financial environments with tight deadlines. (Required)

• Experience or exposure to operational controls, regulatory requirements, auditing, and risk management in banking environments. (Desirable)

Education

• University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, or related disciplines. (Desirable)

• Additional training or specialization in financial markets, Leveraged Finance, syndicated loans, or risk management. (Desirable)
