Senior Database Administrator (SQL Server + PostgreSQL) / Azure DBA

Are you an all-rounder DBA with expert mastery of both the Microsoft ecosystem and the Open Source world, and are you passionate about Cloud challenges? At Ad4Octógono, we are looking for a SQL Server and PostgreSQL Database Expert to take on the governance, evolution, and administration of our critical data platforms, operating in on-premise environments and the Microsoft Azure cloud.

In this strategic role interconnected with the Sales and Distribution areas, you will technically lead digital transformation projects and coordinate end-to-end data migration to cloud environments initiatives, promoting best practices in architecture, performance, and automation. 🚀

• 🌐 Hybrid Multi-Engine Administration: Manage, evolve, and ensure the complete lifecycle of enterprise platforms based on Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL (On-Premise and Azure).
• 🔄 Cloud Migration Leadership: Technically coordinate the migration and modernization of databases to Microsoft Azure using tools such as Azure DMS, Azure Migrate, and Azure Arc.
• 📈 Advanced Optimization and Tuning: Monitor and optimize the performance of both engines through execution plan analysis, complex query tuning (advanced T-SQL and standard SQL), index management, and partitioning.
• 🛡️ High Availability and DR: Define and implement robust backup, disaster recovery, and high availability strategies using SQL Server Always On (FCI) and Patroni / PgBouncer type solutions.
• 🔐 Data Security: Supervise technical security mechanisms in critical environments (TDE, Always Encrypted, Row-Level Security, Dynamic Data Masking, and encryption).
• 🤖 Automation and Infrastructure: Drive the automation of operational tasks and deployments through scripting (PowerShell / Bash) and Infrastructure as Code tools (Ansible or Terraform).

• ⏳ Contract type: Permanent (Large-scale project, stability, and long-term development).
• 📅 Start date: Expected start on 05/07/2026.
• 📍 Location: Bizkaia (Hybrid modality 3🏡/ 2🏢 with a flexible balance between teleworking and office).
• 💶 Salary Compensation: 40,000€ - 50,000€ Gross/Annual (depending on the global experience provided in both engines).
• ⏱️ Work-life balance schedule: Client schedule, intensive morning shift (07:30 to 15:00 hours).

• 🎓 Degree: Technical or Higher Engineering degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or equivalent.
• 💼 Required experience:
• More than 5 years of solid career in Microsoft SQL Server administration.
• Demonstrable and proven experience in the administration of PostgreSQL environments.
• Real experience in database migration projects to Microsoft Azure and support for business applications.
• 🛠️ Essential Technical Knowledge:
• Microsoft SQL Server: Versions 2016/2019/2022 and BI ecosystem (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS).
• PostgreSQL: Versions 13 or higher, physical/logical replication, and backup tools (pgBackRest/Barman).
• Azure Ecosystem: Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Database for PostgreSQL (Flexible Server), Azure Monitor, and Azure Backup.
• Systems and Automation: Mastery of Windows Server and Linux; scripting in PowerShell/Bash and automation with Ansible or Terraform.
• 🌍 Languages: Intermediate English level (B1-B2).
• 📍 Location: Residence in Bizkaia for the hybrid model.

• Experience with analytics and data architectures such as Azure Data Factory or Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Practical knowledge in container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), DevOps methodologies, and CI/CD.
• Knowledge of the ITIL framework and agile methodologies (Scrum).
• Official certifications highly valued: Microsoft certifications (DP-300, AZ-104, AZ-305) or official PostgreSQL certifications.
