Geometrical Engineer – Automotive

We are looking to hire a Geometrical Engineer specialized in the definition, development, design, monitoring, and validation of checking fixtures / control gauges, as well as in the analysis and negotiation of geometric and dimensional tolerances within a Tier 1 automotive environment. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the correct technical definition of checking fixtures, the interpretation of dimensional requirements, the conceptual design of checking fixtures, and the validation of gauges, guaranteeing dimensional accuracy and directly contributing to the final quality of the product. This position requires a profile with comprehensive experience in the design and definition of checking fixtures, not only in the monitoring or validation of already designed fixtures.

• Define and implement the dimensional control strategy for parts in the automotive environment.
• Define RPS (Reference Point System), control points, support points, functional points, and geometric criteria on parts.
• Define the technical concept of checking fixtures, ensuring that the fixture design meets the product's dimensional requirements.
• Prepare the initial technical documentation, including the Specs Book, for the quotation, sourcing, and industrialization phases.
• Participate in the definition and validation of the design of control gauges together with manufacturers, specialized suppliers, and, when necessary, with the customer.
• Technically manage the design of checking fixtures and the manufacturing of gauges with suppliers.
• Monitor the manufacturing of checking fixtures, identifying geometric deviations and coordinating corrective actions.
• Validate checking fixtures both at the manufacturer's facilities and at the Tier 1 supplier's facilities.
• Perform studies, calculations, and analyses of tolerance stack-ups.
• Study, calculate, and negotiate tolerances with the customer, balancing functional, geometric, aesthetic, and industrial feasibility requirements.
• Interpret technical drawings, 2D/3D documentation, geometric requirements, metrology, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• Report deviations, technical risks, and improvement proposals to the customer, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, industrialization, metrology, supplier, and final customer teams.

• Mechanical, Industrial, Automotive Engineering or similar degree.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role within the automotive sector.
• Previous experience in:
• Geometry.
• Metrology.
• GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• Development, definition, or validation of checking fixtures.
• Control gauges / checking fixtures / gauges.
• Experience in defining RPS (Reference Point System) and control points on parts.
• Experience in defining the technical concept of checking fixtures.
• Solid knowledge of tolerance stack-ups.
• Experience collaborating with external manufacturers and technically managing suppliers.
• Experience in monitoring the manufacturing of gauges and checking fixtures.

Buscamos incorporar un/a Geometrical Engineer especializado/a en la definición, desarrollo, diseño, seguimiento y validación de medios de control / control gauges, así como en el análisis y negociación de tolerancias geométricas y dimensionales dentro de un entorno Tier 1 de automoción. La persona seleccionada será responsable de asegurar la correcta definición técnica de los útiles de control, la interpretación de requisitos dimensionales, el diseño conceptual de medios de control y la validación de calibres, garantizando la precisión dimensional y contribuyendo directamente a la calidad final del producto. Para esta posición se requiere un perfil con experiencia integral en el diseño y definición de medios de control, no únicamente en el seguimiento o validación de útiles ya diseñados.

• Definir e implementar la estrategia de control dimensional de piezas en entorno automoción.
• Definir RPS (Reference Point System), puntos de control, puntos de apoyo, puntos funcionales y criterios geométricos en piezas.
• Definir el concepto técnico de los medios de control, asegurando que el diseño del útil responde a los requisitos dimensionales del producto.
• Preparar la documentación técnica inicial, incluyendo Specs Book, para fase de oferta, aprovisionamiento e industrialización.
• Participar en la definición y validación del diseño de control gauges junto con fabricantes externos, proveedores especializados y, cuando sea necesario, con el cliente.
• Gestionar técnicamente el diseño de medios de control y la fabricación de calibres con proveedores.
• Realizar el seguimiento de la fabricación de útiles de control, identificando desviaciones geométricas y coordinando acciones correctivas.
• Validar los útiles de control tanto en las instalaciones del fabricante como en las instalaciones del Tier 1.
• Realizar estudios, cálculos y análisis de tolerance stack-up / acumulación de tolerancias.
• Estudiar, calcular y negociar tolerancias con cliente, equilibrando requisitos funcionales, geométricos, estéticos y viabilidad industrial.
• Interpretar planos técnicos, documentación 2D/3D, requisitos geométricos, metrología y GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• Reportar desviaciones, riesgos técnicos y propuestas de mejora a cliente, proveedores y equipos internos.
• Colaborar con los equipos de ingeniería, calidad, industrialización, metrología, proveedores y cliente final.

• Mínimo 2 años de experiencia en puesto similar dentro del sector automoción.
• Experiencia previa en:

• Desarrollo, definición o validación de útiles de control.
• Control gauges / medios de control / calibres.
