Mechanical Projects Manager - Water & Sanitation

We are looking for a Mechanical Projects Manager to lead the mechanical discipline in international WWTP, SWRO and DWTP projects, with a focus on the selection, installation and commissioning of rotating mechanical equipment and associated systems. The role will be carried out in a multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Directing the planning, coordination, and execution of the mechanical scope for international water and sanitation projects.

• Developing and reviewing technical specifications, tender documents, and data sheets for mechanical equipment (pumps, blowers, agitators, compressors, valves, filters, mixing and aeration equipment).

• Ability to coordinate the installation, assembly, and commissioning of rotating and static mechanical equipment on site.

• Supervising the mechanical design of piping, supports, pumping systems, and connection elements.

• Collaborating with process, hydraulic, civil, and electrical engineering teams on the comprehensive project design.

• Negotiating and managing bids with international equipment manufacturers and suppliers.

• Ensuring compliance with schedules, costs, quality, and safety standards.

• Supporting business development by defining the technical scope for international bids and tenders.

Requirements

• Education: Degree in Mechanical, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience:

o Minimum 8-10 years in mechanical projects applied to WWTP, SWRO and/or DWTP.

o Experience in international projects under EPC/turnkey contracts.

o Familiarity with international regulations and standards (ISO, ASME, API, AWWA, FIDIC).

• Technical skills:

o Selection, design and supervision of rotating mechanical equipment (pumps, blowers, compressors, agitators) and associated static equipment.

• Languages:

o Fluent English (oral and written, essential). French or Arabic is a plus.

• Key competencies:

o Leadership and management of multidisciplinary teams.

o Ability to negotiate with international suppliers.

o Results orientation, adaptability and strategic vision.

Will be valued

• Experience in the commissioning and initial operation of mechanical equipment at water treatment and desalination plants.

• Previous involvement in projects financed by multilateral organizations (World Bank, African Development Bank, IFC).

• A network of contacts with manufacturers and suppliers of mechanical equipment for the water sector. Mechanical design of piping, supports, and structures.

• Software: AutoCAD Plant 3D, BIM, SolidWorks, Caesar II (for stress analysis), or equivalent.

• Knowledge for the integration of electrical systems, low and medium voltage switchgear, instrumentation, and control (PLC, SCADA, telemetry).

Buscamos un/a responsable de Proyectos Mecánicos para liderar la disciplina mecánica en proyectos internacionales de EDAR, IDAM y ETAP, con foco en la selección, instalación y puesta en marcha de equipos mecánicos rotativos y sistemas asociados. El puesto se desarrollará en un entorno multidisciplinar.

Responsabilidades

•Dirigir la planificación, coordinación y ejecución de la parte mecánica de proyectos de agua y saneamiento a nivel internacional.

•Elaborar y revisar especificaciones técnicas, pliegos y hojas de datos de equipos mecánicos (bombas, soplantes, agitadores, compresores, válvulas, filtros, equipos de mezcla y aireación).

•Posibilidad de coordinar la instalación, montaje y puesta en marcha de equipos mecánicos rotativos y estáticos en obra.

•Supervisar el diseño mecánico de tuberías, soportes, sistemas de bombeo y elementos de conexión.

•Colaborar con equipos de proceso, hidráulica, civil y electricidad en el diseño integral del proyecto.

•Negociar y gestionar ofertas con fabricantes y suministradores internacionales de equipos mecánicos.

•Asegurar el cumplimiento de plazos, costes, calidad y estándares de seguridad.

•Apoyar a desarrollo de negocio en la definición técnica de ofertas y licitaciones internacionales.

Requisitos

•Formación: Ingeniería Mecánica, Electromecánica o Industrial.

•Experiencia:

oMínimo 8-10 años en proyectos mecánicos aplicados a EDAR, IDAM y/o ETAP.

oExperiencia en proyectos internacionales bajo contratos EPC/llave en mano.

oFamiliaridad con normativas y estándares internacionales (ISO, ASME, API, AWWA, FIDIC).

•Conocimientos técnicos:

oSelección, diseño y supervisión de equipos mecánicos rotativos (bombas, soplantes, compresores, agitadores) y equipos estáticos asociados.

•Idiomas:

oInglés fluido (oral y escrito, indispensable). Valorable francés o árabe.

•Competencias clave:

oLiderazgo y gestión de equipos multidisciplinares.

oCapacidad de negociación con proveedores internacionales.

oOrientación a resultados, adaptabilidad y visión estratégica.

•Experiencia en puesta en marcha y operación inicial de equipos mecánicos en plantas de tratamiento y desalación.

•Colaboración previa en proyectos financiados por organismos multilaterales (Banco Mundial, Banco Africano de Desarrollo, IFC).

•Red de contactos con fabricantes y proveedores de equipos mecánicos para el sector agua. Diseño mecánico de tuberías, soportes y estructuras.

•Software: AutoCAD Plant 3D, BIM, SolidWorks, Caesar II (para stress analysis) u otros equivalentes.

•Conocimiento para la integración de sistemas eléctricos, cuadros de baja y media tensión, instrumentación y control (PLC, SCADA, telemetría).
