About the role

Are you passionate about precision engineering and the conceptual and detailed design of complex transport systems? We are selecting for our technology and industrial center in Basauri a Systems Engineer for Interior Design to lead technical integration, ergonomics, interior architecture, and structural functionality of rolling stock.

In this role, you will be the key figure in the definition, 3D CAD modeling, materials analysis, and validation of passenger and crew comfort subsystems, ensuring that high-speed trains meet the most demanding standards for acoustic comfort, thermal comfort, accessibility (TSI PRM), structural strength, fire safety regulations (EN 45545), and manufacturability and maintainability.

What you'll do

As a Systems Engineer for Interior Design, you will be responsible for the complete technical lifecycle of the vehicle's interior subsystems:

Requirements and Technical Specifications: Definition, breakdown, and traceability of technical requirements for interiors (side/ceiling panels, saloons, buffet/cafeteria, sanitary modules, seats, luggage racks, partitioning, and gangways) aligned with international railway standards (EN 45545, TSI PRM, UIC).

3D CAD Design and Modeling / Mechanical Integration: Development of interior construction solutions in 3D CAD (CATIA V5 / Siemens NX), ensuring correct packaging, absence of volumetric interferences, and proper kinematics with the aluminum/steel carbody structures and installations (HVAC, electrical, piping).

Calculation, Analysis, and Material Selection: Technical evaluation and selection of composites, resins, thermoformed parts, light alloys, and thermal-acoustic insulation, coordinating structural simulations (FEM) and verifying compliance with criteria for impact resistance, fatigue, weight reduction, and non-flammability/smoke emission.

Technical Supply Management and Qualification: Technical liaison with international subsystem suppliers; definition of technical specification documents (RFQ), supervision of supplier designs, qualification, and technical acceptance of prototypes and mock-ups.

Manufacturing, Assembly, and Maintenance Support (DFM/DFA/RAMS): Technical assistance to the workshop during the prototyping and series assembly phases at the Basauri plant. Design optimization focused on manufacturability, assembly, and maintainability.

Testing, Trials, and Certification: Definition of test plans (VP&R), coordination of operational validation tests, and support for vehicle certification before notified bodies (NoBo/DeBo).

Requirements

University Degree: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Aeronautical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent.

Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience in interior systems engineering within the railway, aerospace, naval, or premium automotive sectors.

CAD/PLM Tools: Proficiency in 3D design tools (CATIA V5, SolidWorks, or NX) and product lifecycle management (Siemens Teamcenter or Windchill).

Languages: Advanced English level (B2/C1, essential for technical communication with international clients and suppliers). C1/C2 level in Spanish.

Benefits and conditions

  • Competitive Compensation Package: Negotiable salary based on experience and demonstrated skills, with regular performance reviews.
  • Professional Career and Technical Development: Continuous training plan and involvement in a constantly innovative technological environment within large-scale international projects.
  • Work-Life Balance and Flexible Hours: Flexible start and end times and intensive working hours during the summer period. — - Employee Benefits: Corporate health insurance, pension plan, and flexible compensation system / meal vouchers.
