About the role
We would like to hire a postdoctoral researcher passionate about science and willing to undertake challenging new projects with expertise in molecular cell biology, super resolution microscopy, and demonstrated record of publication in highly recognized journals.
The lab discovered TANGO1 as an endoplasmic reticulum exit site specific trans membrane protein which functions in secretion of vital proteins too big in size or secreted in huge quantities that cannot be trafficked by standard small vesicles. The aim is to address the mechanism by which TANGO1 functions in secretion of proteins such as mucins, collagens and insulin.
The lab is interested in revealing the mechanism of protein secretion. Protein secretion is an old problem of fundamental interest and while a number of questions remain unsolved, we have focused on the following key questions.
- Mechanism of collagen secretion to address the issue of tissue fibrosis (collagenopathies).
- Mechanism of Mucin secretion and the associated pathologies of COPD and cystic fibrosis
- The mechanism of unconventional protein secretion.
- The shape and the biogenesis of functional Golgi cisternae.
- The biogenesis of transport carriers at the Golgi cisternae.
What we're looking for
- Must have a comprehensive understanding and proven ability to modern approached of molecular cell biology, imaging, genetic
- All approaches of modern cell biology that included genetic manipulation of respective genes in metazoans, super resolution microscopy, and publications to demonstrate expertise in the procedures mentioned.
