What we're looking for

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in cinema/film, as well as:

  • Spanish work authorization is required.
  • Native-level proficiency in Castilian Spanish. Fluent in English.
  • BA in Translation, Linguistics, Audiovisual Translation, or a related field (or equivalent experience). (Preferred Master's degree in Translation or a related discipline.)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in subtitling, audiovisual translation, localization, quality assurance, or a related field preferred. Experience with subtitling software.
  • Strong understanding of subtitling and localization workflows.
  • Knowledge of subtitle accessibility standards, including SDH.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is considered an asset.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace.

The role

Audiovisual Translation Specialist

The Audiovisual Translation Specialist supports the creation, preparation, adaptation, and quality control of subtitle and accessibility materials for a variety of clients and platforms. Working closely with internal teams, the successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality localized content while ensuring compliance with client specifications, linguistic standards, and delivery deadlines.This role requires strong linguistic skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven production environment.

What you'll do

  • Create subtitle files from dubbing scripts, dialogue lists, templates, and source materials.
  • Adapt subtitles in accordance with client-specific guidelines and style requirements.
  • Perform subtitle conforming, retiming, and synchronization.
  • Perform linguistic and technical quality assurance checks on subtitle files to ensure accuracy and readability. Conduct quality control reviews of subtitles and accessibility materials.
  • Create and prepare SDH and accessibility-related subtitle materials as required.
  • Verify compliance with client specifications, formatting requirements, and style guides.
  • Identify and report quality issues, inconsistencies, or delivery risks.
  • Escalate linguistic, technical, or production issues to management when appropriate.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain materials required for production, including videos, scripts, reference documents, and style guides.
  • Track and manage assigned work to ensure timely completion.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support project delivery and production requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of client-specific guidelines and requirements. Maintain accurate project documentation and records. Update workflow documentation and internal resources as required.
  • Support technical troubleshooting related to subtitle preparation and delivery.
  • Ensure all assigned work complies with established workflows, quality standards, and delivery requirements. Ensure all deliverables are completed within agreed timelines and quality expectations.
  • Participate in training initiatives and continuous learning opportunities.
