The role

ERREKA Medical S.L. is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer to join its engineering team and take part in the development of innovative systems and consumables based on microfluidics for life sciences and IVD.

The position combines mechanical design tasks, product development, microfluidic integration, and technical project leadership, with the goal of turning customer needs into viable and manufacturable solutions, from the initial phase through to industrialization.

A practical and versatile profile is required, with experience in CAD, device design (especially polymeric or microfluidic) and the ability to work on multidisciplinary projects, maintaining a focus on design for manufacturability (DFM).

The person will work with different teams (assay, processes, NPI, management) on applications such as point-of-care diagnostics, cell therapy, and lab-on-chip.

What you'll do

Lead the development of microfluidic consumables and devices through to industrialization.
Translate requirements into robust and manufacturable designs (DFM).
Define architecture, materials, assembly, and tolerances.
Design, prototype, and validate products iteratively.
Support testing, failure analysis, and problem solving.
Plan project development and technical strategy.
Collaborate with customers and multidisciplinary teams.
Generate and maintain technical documentation.
Participate in technical meetings and business development.
Mentor junior profiles and improve internal capabilities.

Experience to be valued

Handling of pressure- or capillary-driven systems.
Experience with microfluidic consumables and cartridges.
Knowledge of manufacturing (injection molding, laser, bonding, adhesives).
Experience in point-of-care, cell therapy, or lab-on-chip.
Knowledge of ISO 13485/regulatory affairs.
Direct contact with technical customers.
Experience in agile environments.
Work with multiple projects/clients.
Experience in technology transfer to manufacturing/NPI.

Required competencies

Advanced use of CAD (SolidWorks).
Strong product development and technical problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of microfluidic integration.
