Professional Kafka Engineer Platform

• Hands-on experience with Confluent Platform, including topics, partitions, consumer groups, retention policies, and log compaction.

• Strong knowledge of Schema Registry and Avro, including:

• Avro schema design with complex types, unions, default values, and logical types.

• Translating business or JSON-based data models into Avro schemas.

• Schema evolution and compatibility strategies (BACKWARD, FORWARD, FULL, and TRANSITIVE variants).

• Subject naming strategies such as TopicName, RecordName, and TopicRecordName.

• Experience with Kafka Connect, including converters (Avro/JSON), SMTs, and Dead Letter Queues (DLQ).

• Knowledge of Confluent for Kubernetes (CFK) and its resource reconciliation model.

• Working knowledge of Git/GitLab, including branching strategies, merge requests, and code reviews.

• Experience supporting or maintaining CloudBees/Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.

• Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.

• Basic Kubernetes knowledge, including kubectl, YAML manifests, namespaces, and log/event analysis.

• Fluency in English and Spanish.

• Manage the lifecycle of Kafka topics, including creation, ownership changes, partition updates, retention settings, and decommissioning.

• Design, maintain, and evolve Avro schemas in Confluent Schema Registry, ensuring compatibility across versions and applications.

• Translate business and data models into well-structured, scalable Avro schemas.

• Configure, deploy, and support Kafka Connect source and sink connectors.

• Maintain GitLab repositories and deploy platform changes through CloudBees/Jenkins pipelines following GitOps principles.

• Review, version, and manage Confluent for Kubernetes (CFK) resources, including KafkaTopic, Schema, and Connector CRDs.

• Support operational requests, troubleshoot incidents, and collaborate with internal teams through Jira.

• Create and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures in Confluence.
