Requirements
What we're looking for
- A degree in mechanical engineering, industrial design or similar. What counts is having designed parts that get made and hold up.
- Four or more years in mechanical design on products made in series, not one-off prototypes.
- You have owned at least one physical product development: deadlines, budget and suppliers.
- Fluent CAD and sound judgement on tolerances, materials and manufacturing process.
- At home in a workshop. Here we test physically, we do not only simulate.
- Able to produce high-quality product renders.
- Fluent English, spoken and written. Much of the project is coordinated with suppliers and partners outside Spain.
- Based in Seville or willing to relocate.
Nice to have
- FEA, and correlating a simulation against a physical test.
- Vehicle certification or machinery directives.
- Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2 or IPMA).
- Phase-gate development (stage-gate, APQP).
- Formula Student (Formula SAE) at university.

What you'll get
- See your designs on the street in weeks, not years. And not just any street: cities like Amsterdam, Madrid, London or Los Angeles.
- Get in early. The eCargoBike is our first use case and more are coming. Whoever joins now does not inherit the next vehicles: they design them and put them on the street.
- Our own test rig and permission to break things. No queues, no external labs.
- A face-to-face team, in the workshop and in Seville. 100% on-site.
The role
Mothium builds professional electric vehicles for urban logistics and the agents that run them. MothiOS ships with every vehicle and today it runs maintenance, aftersales, routing and cost across real customer fleets. It is not a demo. It is operating.
What you'll do
Vehicles that live for years on the street set the brief for you. Kerbs, ramps, loading bays, a driver in a hurry and a load that is never where the drawing said it would be.
You will design chassis, steering, transmission and body parts. And you will run the project that turns them into a vehicle: scope, schedule, suppliers and budget. You draw it, we build it, we break it, and within weeks you know why it failed and what that failure does to the delivery date.
The hard part is not the CAD or the schedule. It is holding four things at once: a part that passes the standard, that a supplier can make at a sound cost, that a workshop can replace without dismantling half the vehicle, and that makes it into the production run on time. Someone has to arbitrate between the four. That is you.
- Design parts and assemblies for chassis, steering, transmission and body, from concept to production drawings.
- Plan and lead vehicle development projects: scope, schedule, milestones, budget and gate reviews.
- Coordinate suppliers, workshop, assembly line and homologation, and be the project's point of contact.
- Work with international suppliers and partners: delivery follow-up, technical reviews and negotiation, in English.
- Run test rig campaigns: define the load case, measure it, and document why it failed.
- Anticipate technical and schedule risks, and decide on data what goes into the run and what waits for the next one.
- Design for service: parts a workshop can replace, with the spare parts catalogue in mind.
- Produce technical drawings, manufacturing documentation and product renders for design reviews, suppliers and communication.
You will fit here if
- You want to see your part on the street in weeks. That speed cuts both ways, because mistakes arrive in weeks too.
- You can say "this goes in" and "this waits". Once a run is committed, improvements go to the next one, and here you make that call.
- You like owning a part and a project end to end, including the call to the supplier when it does not fit.
- You would rather argue a criterion in a standards committee than accept one you think is wrong.
Hiring process
- Intro call with our team, 30 minutes.
- Technical conversation about parts you have designed, what failed on them and how you ran the project.
- A design review on a real part of ours. Discussed, not submitted.
- A day in Seville with the team, the workshop and the test rig.
These steps can be completed in ten days.
