What we're looking for

• Degree: Bachelor's/Licentiate in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or similar. A Master's in Pharmaceutical Development, Galenic Development, Pharmaceutical Technology, or related fields will be valued. (Having a completed doctoral thesis will be valued)
• Valuable complementary training: GMP, ICH Q8/Q9/Q10, process validation, design of experiments (DoE).
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation in an R&D environment.

For our R&D department located in Tres Cantos, we are looking for a pharma galenic formulation Technician with demonstrable experience in the sector.

What you'll do

Main duties:

Formulation development

Design and execute preformulation trials (excipient-active ingredient compatibility, solubility, forced stability, degradation studies).
Develop formulations in the following pharmaceutical dosage forms:
Oral solids: tablets (coated, modified release, orally disintegrating), capsules (hard and soft), granules, powders, sachets.
Liquids: solutions, suspensions, syrups, oral emulsions.
Semisolids: creams, ointments, gels, unguents, pastes.
Sterile / parenteral forms: injectables (solutions, suspensions, lyophilized), eye drops.
Special forms: aerosols, inhalers (MDI/DPI), suppositories, ovules, transdermal patches, modified release systems.
Select excipients and establish technical specifications for raw materials.
Scale up formulations from laboratory to pilot plant (scale-up).

Testing and characterization

Perform physicochemical testing: pH, viscosity, density, hardness, friability, disintegration, dissolution, content/mass uniformity, osmolality, particle size, rheology.
Execute and document stability studies (ICH: accelerated, intermediate, long-term conditions).
Collaborate with Quality Control and Analytical departments for the development of associated analytical methods.

Documentation and regulations

Prepare and update protocols, development reports, master formulas, and manufacturing sheets.
Draft technical documentation for registration dossiers (CTD Module 3 - Quality).
Comply with and document under GMP/GLP regulations, standard operating procedures (SOP), and good laboratory practices.

Equipment and laboratory management

Handling and maintenance of formulation equipment: mixers, granulators, tablet presses, capsule fillers, homogenizers, reactors, lyophilizers, etc.
Calibration and qualification of equipment (IQ/OQ/PQ) in collaboration with Metrology.
Management of raw materials, samples, and traceability in the laboratory.

Interdepartmental collaboration
Work in a coordinated manner with the Analytical, Production, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, and Packaging departments.
Participate in technology transfer to the production plant.
Support in the resolution of incidents/deviations and in the implementation of CAPAs.
