  • Advanced knowledge of the Spain and applicable European regulatory environment relating to AML, with experience engaging with relevant regulatory and supervisory authorities.
  • Knowledge of and experience with payments rules and payment products (although not essential); fintech experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise senior business leadership and Board members on AML matters.
  • Ability to apply established Compliance principles while contributing to the development of new policies and approaches in response to regulatory developments, evolving market practices and emerging risks.
  • Strong ability to develop and maintain relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders, including stakeholders outside the candidate's immediate area of expertise.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills appropriate for engagement with senior leadership, regulators and other key stakeholders.

The role

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Compliance Program Manager who will act as Convera's Compliance Officer for its Spanish operations.

In this role, you will help promote a strong compliance culture across Convera by ensuring that an effective compliance program is in place, enabling employees to make informed, risk-based decisions as they execute their business plans.

This is a high-impact, hands-on role within Convera's Payments Compliance function. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategically implementing the AML program, identifying and managing market conduct and financial crime risks, and partnering closely with Convera's leadership team.

What you'll do

  • Execute all responsibilities associated with serving as the Compliance Officer for Convera's Spanish operations, including responsibilities relating to AML/CFT, financial crime and sanctions matter.
  • Be responsible, directly or through appropriate delegation, for Suspicious Transaction Report (STR) decisions and serve as a primary point of contact for relevant Spanish regulatory and supervisory authorities for all FCC activities in relation to the payment business.
  • Ensure all regulatory reporting relating to AML is completed accurately and within applicable deadlines.
  • Ensure AML/CFT and financial crime risks are appropriately identified, documented, escalated and reported to senior leadership.
  • Provide advice and guidance on Compliance policies, new products, business initiatives and expansion plans in relation to FX payments.
  • Provide effective oversight of outsourced AML activities.
  • Track relevant regulatory developments and direct the implementation of required regulatory changes.
  • Manage and support internal and external audits, regulatory reviews and inspections.
  • Participate with senior management in establishing strategic plans and objectives. Effectively cascade functional strategy and contribute to the development of organizational policies.
  • Work on complex AML cases where issues may not be clearly defined and require significant judgment.
  • Translate business strategy into functional Compliance plans and guide their execution including support in drafting associated policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for Compliance projects, programs and processes.
  • Make decisions that may have a significant long-term impact on the effectiveness and success of the Compliance function and wider organization.
  • Interact with senior management, executives, regulators and key stakeholders on matters of significance to the organization.
  • Reconcile multiple stakeholder perspectives while maintaining effective regulatory and Compliance standards.
