What we're looking for
You'll Have
- VAT technical experience, including
- Preparation of VAT / GST or other indirect tax returns
- Partial exemption (pro-rata) calculations
- Cross-border transactions, particularly services
- Experience of working directly with accounting / ERP systems
- 2+ years of experience in preparation or review of indirect tax returns, including using Excel
- Able to rapidly understand compliance and project requirements, become familiar with systems and processes, and pro-actively develop rapport with a variety of colleagues
- Proven experience in rapidly establish and maintain relationships with a variety of both internal and external stakeholders, such as Tax, Finance, Legal, Regulatory colleagues, external tax advisers and tax authorities
- Achieved or studying towards, or interested in achieving, a recognised tax or accounting qualification (such as ATT, CTA, ADIT, AAT, ACA, CA, ACCA)
- Experience with:
- Thompson Reuters ONESOURCE or similar tax compliance tool
- Oracle Fusion
- Alteryx, PowerBI, or similar software
- An interest in the gambling sector
- VAT technical experience, including

The role
As an Indirect Tax Adviser at Entain, you will be at the forefront of helping us to manage both existing tax obligations as well as emerging obligations in the fast-developing and leading-edge world of the taxation of digital services all over the world.
Reporting to the Head of Indirect Tax you will be part of the Group Tax Team , who work closely with people from across the business and around the world – from accountants to lawyers to marketing specialists and technology experts in the UK, Gibraltar, Malta, India and elsewhere. Understanding the business is critical to helping shape current and future plans for market growth and expansion.
Stay curious. Stay ahead. Make an impact. You'll continuously develop your expertise across VAT, GST, gambling and digital taxes, anticipating regulatory change and translating it into a tax strategy that supports how the business grows and operates.
What you'll do
- Prepare and file VAT and gambling tax returns for a variety of different jurisdictions (primarily UK and Europe) in collaboration with finance colleagues to help the business comply with its international indirect tax obligations.
- Identify and implement opportunities for compliance process streamlining and improvement.
- Act as a trusted business partner: assisting accounting, procurement, legal, commercial, regulatory and other colleagues in understanding, in plain English, the VAT, GST and gambling tax considerations of their work and the impact on the wider business.
- Support other members of the tax team with special projects, such as M&A, corporate restructuring, litigation, analysis of new products, and addressing the tax aspects of entry into new markets, and the launch of new products, to ensure compliance and optimise business decisions.
