Requirements

What we're looking for

  • Ability to interpret and analyze hydrological and meteorological information from different sources and time scales.
  • Ability to work with prediction models and operating systems, performing their calibration, validation, and analysis of results.
  • Regular use of IT tools for data processing, analysis, and representation.
  • Availability to participate in the on-call system, including monitoring hydrometeorological episodes outside of regular working hours when necessary.

Nice to have

  • Training in hydrological modeling, especially with HEC-HMS or other equivalent tools
  • Training in hydraulic modeling, using HEC-RAS, Iber, InfoWorks ICM, or other equivalent models
  • Experience under employment contract in hydrological prediction systems applied to floods and inundations
  • Experience under employment contract in analysis and processing of hydrometeorological time series, data validation, and evaluation of precipitation and rising water episodes
  • Experience under employment contract in the use and interpretation of deterministic and probabilistic weather forecasts, weather radar, and products from AEMET, ECMWF, or equivalent organizations
  • Experience under employment contract in programming and data analysis, especially using Python, R, or equivalent tools
  • Experience under employment contract in machine learning models applied to hydrological prediction, including techniques such as LSTM, Random Forest, or other machine learning methodologies

Education & certifications

  • Associate Degree, Technical Engineering, Technical Architecture, or Degree (MECES level 2) (degree officially recognized in Spain or certificate of equivalence issued by the General Secretariat of Universities)

The role

Associate Degree, Technical Engineer, Technical Architect, or Graduate - Automatic Hydrological Information System (Asturias)

Tecnologías y Servicios Agrarios, S.A., S.M.E., M.P., a subsidiary company of the TRAGSA GROUP, specialized in performing engineering, consulting, and technical assistance activities in agricultural, livestock, forestry, and environmental matters, seeks to incorporate 1 Associate Degree, Technical Engineer, Technical Architect, or Graduate to collaborate in the management of the automatic hydrological information system in Asturias.

What you'll do

  • Configuration, maintenance, calibration, and operation of hydrological and hydraulic models
  • Analysis, validation, and exploitation of hydrometeorological data, including precipitation, level, and flow series, anomaly detection, and episode analysis
  • Hydrometeorological monitoring of flood episodes, interpreting observed and forecast evolution, identifying potentially critical situations, and providing technical support.
  • Evaluation and continuous improvement of prediction models, through comparison with real episodes, recalibration of parameters, analysis of results, and proposal of improvements.
  • Preparation of bulletins, reports, maps, and decision-support products, as well as collaborating in the definition of warning thresholds and new functionalities of the Web Viewer

    - Fixed-term contract with an estimated duration of 9 months.
    - Full-time.
