  • Ability to travel on ski touring equipment
  • Valid Type B driver's license in Spain
  • 24/7 availability for pre-alert and alert episodes

Nice to have

  • More than 1,000 hours of training in mid-mountain, high-mountain, winter sports, or Pister - Lifeguard/Rescuer matters
  • Accredited training in snow-meteorological observation, different from the one required
  • Knowledge of avalanche safety and rescue (transceiver, shovel, and probe)
  • Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Experience with an employment contract in the recording and analysis of snow-meteorological data from automatic and manual high-mountain weather stations
  • Work experience in snow-meteorological data collection: stratigraphic profile and instability test
  • Experience with an employment contract in snow-meteorological observation for Public, Regional, or State Administration
  • Experience with an employment contract using meteorological data management programs
  • Experience with an employment contract in the management of low-voltage electrical installations and related maintenance tasks in automatic weather stations.

Education & certifications

  • High School Diploma (BUP/COU), Vocational Training I or CFGM, Vocational Training II or CFGS (degree officially recognized in Spain) or 6 months of extensive experience (professional, academic, or both) in their profession according to the offered position and/or the functions of the position.

The role

Snow Observers - Risk Prediction and Assessment (Asturias)

Tecnologías y Servicios Agrarios, S.A., S.M.E., M.P., a subsidiary company of the TRAGSA GROUP, specialized in performing engineering, consulting, and technical assistance activities in agricultural, livestock, forestry, and environmental matters, is looking to incorporate 6 Snow Observers to perform risk prediction and assessment in Asturias.

In relation to the process published on 11/09/2026, the deadline for receiving applications is extended from 08/10/2026 to 13/10/2026 at 23:59 (peninsular time).

What you'll do

  • Daily snow-meteorological monitoring for the preparation of local avalanche predictions and daily issuance of risk bulletins, following the procedures recommended by the European Avalanche Warning Services (EAWS) and for pre-warning and alerts (start and end) when conditions require it.
  • Recording and analysis of snow-meteorological data.
  • Analysis of the snowpack through stratigraphic profiling and snowpack instability testing to evaluate avalanche risk and its corresponding report.
  • Participation in the drafting of monthly and seasonal reports regarding the danger communications sent.
  • Participation in the preparation of avalanche mapping and databases.
  • Preparation of standardized avalanche movement modeling.
  • Updates to GIS layers and their attributes and the supply of data for specific civil infrastructure programs affected by avalanches.
  • Updates to procedure protocols and winter road management plans.
  • Drafting of reports for the review of passive and active defenses.
  • Training for end-client personnel in snow science and safety related to avalanche episodes.
  • Participate in the Temporary Traffic Restriction Plan (PRTC) and in the execution of the Avalanche Triggering Intervention Plan (PIDA), as required.
  • Data collection required from other actions to be carried out in the Road Network of the Principality of Asturias.
  • Participate in all ordinary and extraordinary meetings requested by the Project Manager for Tragsatec, whether online and/or in person at the Tragsatec offices located in Oviedo.

How you'll work

  • We offer:
    - Fixed-term contract with an estimated duration of 6 months with the possibility of extension up to a maximum of 9 months in total, if applicable.
    - Full-time.
