Senior Mechanical Designer

At Loramendi, we are looking to hire a Mechanical Designer to participate in the development of industrial machinery, automation, and special mechanical solutions for the foundry sector.

The selected person will be part of the mechanical engineering team and will participate in the design of machines, mechanical assemblies, automation, robot grippers, tools, auxiliary elements, and handling systems, from conceptual definition to technical detail.

At Loramendi, we work in a multidisciplinary engineering environment, where mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic automation, programming, and commissioning disciplines coexist. Therefore, we are looking for a person capable of relating, coordinating, and integrating with the other disciplines to develop a global, coherent, and functional design.

What you will do

You will participate in the mechanical design of industrial machinery and automation, developing 3D models, mechanical assemblies, functional sub-assemblies, robot grippers, handling tools, auxiliary elements, and special solutions adapted to each application.

You will prepare 2D technical manufacturing and assembly drawings, including part drawings, assembly drawings, sections, construction details, tolerances, fits, roughness, treatments, welding, and all documentation necessary for manufacturing, assembly, and quality control.

You will collaborate in the sizing and structural validation of components and mechanical assemblies, applying mechanical calculation criteria and finite element analysis tools, with the objective of ensuring the rigidity, strength, reliability, and safety of the designed solutions.

You will work in a coordinated manner with the different engineering disciplines: mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, automation, programming, and commissioning, ensuring that the mechanical design facilitates the integration of sensors, actuators, wiring, piping, access, movement sequences, maintenance, and machine operation.

You will also participate in the selection of components, definition of materials, improvement of existing designs, resolution of technical incidents, and optimization of solutions from the standpoint of manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, cost, safety, and duty cycle.

What we are looking for

A person with training in Mechanical Engineering, a good technical base, and proficiency in CAD tools, preferably Creo / ProEngineer.

Mechanical design of industrial machinery.
Design of automation and handling systems.
Design of robot grippers, tools, and auxiliary elements.
3D modeling of parts, assemblies, and large assemblies.
2D design and preparation of technical manufacturing and assembly drawings.
Definition of dimensional and geometric tolerances.
Mechanical calculation and sizing of components.
Structural calculation using finite elements.
Interpretation of simulation results.
Materials and manufacturing processes.
Machining, welding, and boilermaking.
Pneumatics and hydraulics.
Mechanical integration with electricity, automation, robotics, and programming.
Machine safety.
Design oriented towards manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, and service.

We will especially value the ability to work in a team, communicate clearly, understand the needs of other technical disciplines, and anticipate interferences or integration problems from the design phase.
