About the role

WHAT DOES AN IMPORT MANAGER DO AT MANGO?

Within the Import Department, your role as Manager will be to drive the technological transformation that enables the automation of the import documentation flow, ensuring the correct management, validation, quality, and traceability of import documentation.

Likewise, you will lead reporting and cross-departmental communication of inbound flows with other departments and key stakeholders, providing visibility into operations, anticipating issues, and facilitating alignment and decision-making.

What you'll do

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Leading, developing, and supporting the team, ensuring a high level of performance and specialization.
  • Defining objectives, KPIs, and monitoring routines to guarantee operational compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Promoting a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and Compliance.
  • Leading the design and implementation of automated document validation flows, identifying which controls can be executed by RPA and which require AI capabilities.
  • Defining, together with IT, the architecture of automated flows and scaling criteria. 
  • Collaborating with IT on the knowledge, configuration, and testing of implemented solutions.
  • Monitoring technological and regulatory trends that may affect automated flows (REX, ICS2, etc.) and anticipating their impact on validation rules.
  • Applying LEAN methodology for the standardization and optimization of team processes.
  • Leading reporting and cross-departmental communication with key stakeholders (Purchasing, Sourcing, Logistics Departments, etc.), ensuring visibility into the status of inbound flows and any legislative or logistical developments that may affect them.
  • Preparing and publishing operational KPIs.
  • Defining the types of documents to be requested from suppliers based on country of origin, Incoterm, and mode of transport (certificates of origin, FCRs, REX, ATR, EUR-1, Bills of Lading, etc.) and maintaining the rules/logic in corporate systems.
  • Ensuring the quality of Packing Lists created by suppliers so they remain consistent with the rest of the transport/Customs documentation (CLPs, transport documents, Entry Summary Declaration, etc.).
  • Ensuring that all documentation required for import is available before the goods arrive, requesting it from suppliers when missing, validating it, and resolving any issues that may affect the inbound flow.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable customs and commercial regulations in the documents provided by suppliers, verifying that preferential tariff criteria are met.
  • Establishing quality controls and validations prior to the arrival of goods to minimize issues and operational risks.
  • Coordinating the resolution of documentation issues with suppliers, forwarders, and internal teams.
  • Maintaining the physical and digital document archive, ensuring traceability and accessibility for internal and external audits.
  • Aligning policies regarding vendors with the Sourcing and Purchasing departments.
