What we're looking for

  • Minimum Experience: At least 3 years of demonstrable experience in database security, with a specific focus on vulnerability remediation.
  • Technical Knowledge: Solid knowledge in the administration and security of at least two of the following database management systems: SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL.
  • Database Security: Deep understanding of database security principles, including access control, encryption, auditing, hardening, and SQL injection prevention.
  • Automation: Experience in developing scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) and/or tools for the automation of security tasks and database administration.
  • English: English level [Specify Level - e.g., Intermediate, Advanced, Fluent], both written and oral. This will be necessary for communication with international teams and consulting technical documentation.
  • Operating Systems: Knowledge of operating systems (Windows Server, Linux) and their interaction with databases.
  • Security Tools: Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools and database security analysis.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions.
  • Proactivity and Autonomy: Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively.

Nice to have

  • Security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+).
  • Experience with centralized patch management tools.
  • Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their database security.
  • Experience in the implementation of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions.

The role

At Métrica, we are looking to add a Database Security Specialist to our team with experience and a passion for protecting our clients' critical information. If you are a proactive professional with deep knowledge in database security and you are passionate about vulnerability remediation, we want to meet you!

What you'll do

As a Database Security Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of the data managed in our databases. Your main functions will include:

  • Vulnerability Remediation: Identify, analyze, and prioritize security vulnerabilities in database environments (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.). Develop and implement effective remediation plans to mitigate risks.
  • Patch and Update Management: Plan and execute the application of security patches and updates for database systems, minimizing the impact on service availability.
  • Monitoring and Auditing: Implement and maintain security monitoring solutions to detect suspicious activity, unauthorized access, and potential security breaches. Perform periodic security and configuration audits of databases.
  • Secure Configuration: Define and apply secure configuration policies for databases, including access management, permissions, and roles.
  • Task Automation: Design, develop, and implement scripts and automation tools to optimize security processes, such as vulnerability scanning, patch application, and report generation.
  • Incident Response: Actively participate in security incident response related to databases, performing forensic analysis and proposing corrective actions.
  • Collaboration: Work in close collaboration with database administration, development, and operations (DevOps) teams to integrate security best practices throughout the entire application development and operation lifecycle.
  • Documentation: Prepare and keep up to date the technical documentation related to database security architecture, policies, and procedures.
  • Continuous Research: Stay up to date on the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and emerging technologies in the field of databases.
