Requirements

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years in SEO, ideally in ecommerce, retail or consumer brands, with meaningful ownership of organic performance.
  • Demonstrable experience running SEO across more than one country or language.
  • Strong working knowledge of technical SEO: crawl and indexation, site architecture, structured data, page performance.
  • Content-led SEO experience: keyword and demand research, content strategy, briefing writers, and building category and editorial content that ranks and converts.
  • Practical exposure to AEO - structured data, entity management, and a real point of view on how Quince should show up in AI-driven discovery.
  • Comfortable in the data: Google Search Console, GA4, and the standard SEO toolset (Ahrefs, Semrush, Screaming Frog or similar).
  • Excellent communicator in English, and effective working asynchronously with a headquarters team in another time zone.
  • A bias for shipping. You are happy operating without a large team, deciding what matters most this quarter, and doing the work yourself.

Nice to have

  • Working proficiency in English and, preferably, a second language (e.g. German, French, or Spanish).
  • Experience launching ecommerce storefronts in new countries.
  • Familiarity with headless CMS and search stacks (e.g. Contentful, Algolia) and translation management platforms (e.g. Smartling).
  • Experience using AI-assisted tooling to produce or optimise content, metadata and structured data at scale.
  • Apparel, home or lifestyle retail experience in the European market.

What you'll get

Joining Quince means being part of a mission-driven team reshaping retail. You will work alongside talented colleagues, tackle meaningful challenges, and contribute to building a more sustainable, accessible future for customers and partners alike.

The role

Quince is a destination for builders, creators, innovators, and operators who want to come together and challenge the status quo. Our mission is simple: make really high quality essentials for really low prices, fairly and sustainably. We deliver on that mission through a unique manufacturer-to-consumer (M2C) model eliminating the layers of traditional retail that add cost and result in consumers paying more than they need to. We find, build relationships with, and work directly with the manufacturing partners behind some of the world's finest products. From there, our teams design smart, efficient operational processes and build and deploy proprietary technology, AI, and analytics to help us scale fast.

What began with a small assortment of elevated basics has quickly grown into a cross-category brand spanning apparel, accessories, home goods, and more. Today, tens of millions of people across a growing number of countries come - and return - to Quince because they trust us to deliver.

What you'll do

  • Own the UK/EU SEO & AEO strategy. Build and maintain a market-level roadmap that reflects the real competitive dynamics of each country rather than a copy of the US plan. Decide where we play, which categories we go after first, and what winning looks like in each market.
  • Partner closely with the global SEO team. Adopt and apply global technical standards, feed European requirements into the global roadmap, and flag where a one-size-fits-all approach breaks down in-market.
  • Drive answer engine optimisation across Europe. Build Quince's presence in AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and the surfaces that follow. Own structured data coverage, entity and brand consistency, citation-worthy content, and the measurement approach that tells us whether any of it is working.
  • Make localisation a search advantage, not an afterthought. Work with copywriting and localisation to ensure category, PDP and editorial content targets genuine local search demand - not translated US keywords. Build the keyword and demand research foundation for each market and turn it into briefs writers can act on.
  • Own international search architecture in-market. Hreflang and market targeting, URL and domain structure, canonical logic, indexation of localised catalogues, and the crawl health of each European storefront - specced and QA'd with global SEO and engineering, with you accountable for the outcome.
  • Shape the storefront with merchandising and site merch. Influence category taxonomy, navigation, on-site search and PLP structure so that pages serve organic discovery as well as conversion. Partner on how content is modelled in our CMS and how listing pages are built and ranked.
  • Work in lockstep with growth marketing. Understand where organic and paid overlap, where they cannibalise, and where organic can take load off paid spend. Bring an incrementality mindset to the way we report and invest.
  • Own SEO/AEO readiness for new market launches. Define the checklist, run it, and make sure every new European storefront goes live search-ready rather than being retrofitted six months later.
  • Measure, report and build the case for investment. Own market-level organic reporting and the quarterly narrative for European and global leadership.

Who you are

  • You think in systems. You would rather build a repeatable process that scales to five markets than win one category by hand.
  • You are genuinely curious about how discovery is changing, and you are already testing how AI-driven search behaves in your own markets.
  • You are persuasive without authority. Much of your impact comes from convincing merchandisers, writers, engineers and a global team to prioritise your work.
  • You are commercially minded. You connect organic performance to revenue, not just to rankings.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and with being early. Europe is not a finished operation, and you will help decide what it becomes.

In their own words

About the company & team

Quince is a culture built for builders by builders. Our way of working starts with a blank sheet of paper. We question conventional thinking, use technology and data to uncover new opportunities, and move quickly to turn ideas into reality. We aren't interested in replicating how others do retail. We're building a better way - at a speed and scale unlike anything that's been done before.

  • We dream big and chase the hard problems others shy away from. Rejecting long-held assumptions is part of our company's DNA. Where conventional wisdom says you have to choose - soft or durable, speed or rigor, quality or price - we ask why that trade-off has to exist in the first place.
  • Our pace is fast and the bar is high because our customers expect a lot from us and we refuse to let them down. We believe the best results come from challenging ourselves, learning from one another, and building on each other's strengths.
  • Here, responsibility is not determined by role, tenure, or seniority. Every team member - no matter their level - has the opportunity to drive our business and shape our trajectory.

If you're someone who likes to imagine new possibilities and build better systems rather than plug-in to outdated ones, Quince is the place for you.

Europe is Quince's next growth engine. We have launched in the UK, with further European markets on the roadmap, and organic discovery is one of the biggest untapped levers we have.

We are looking for an SEO Manager, UK & EU. You will own the organic strategy for our European markets across both traditional search and generative engines (AEO), building our European playbook.

This is a cross-market, hands-on role with an unusual amount of ownership. Technical SEO standards and platform-level architecture come primarily from our global SEO team in the US; you are the person who translates those foundations into a European strategy, identifies where Europe needs something different, and makes the case for it. You will work day to day with storefront, copywriting, merchandising, growth marketing, engineering and data - and you will be the main driver for organic growth in the region.

If you want to build an organic program from the ground up in markets where the brand is still being established, this is that job.
