Requirements

What we're looking for

• That you are a responsible, autonomous, careful person with initiative.
• That you have manual dexterity and the ability to solve problems practically.
• That you enjoy repairing, building, and improving facilities.
• That you like physical work and being outdoors.
• That you have sensitivity and respect toward animals and the environment.
• That you understand land care through the criteria of sustainability and biodiversity protection.
• That you know how to adapt to the needs of a rescue center and have the ability to solve problems practically and find solutions.
• That you have the willingness to learn those tasks or techniques that you do not yet know.

We are not necessarily looking for a person with specific training in all maintenance areas. We especially value those who are true "handymen": curious, resourceful people who enjoy fixing things, learn easily, and know how to handle very diverse tasks.

Experience or knowledge in construction, welding, plumbing, gardening, or mechanics will be highly valued, but we understand that no one masters all these disciplines. The most important thing is attitude, the capacity to learn, and the desire to care for a space designed for the well-being of primates.

This position is probably not for you if...

  • You are looking only for a conventional maintenance job.
  • You prefer routine and clearly defined tasks and do not enjoy solving different problems every day.
  • You do not enjoy physical work and being outdoors.
  • You do not share a vision of profound respect toward animals and nature.
  • You find it difficult to adapt to an environment where the needs of the animals dictate the priorities.

If you share our way of understanding conservation, we hope you contact us!

Education & certifications

We do not require professional experience in all of them. Knowledge or experience in one or several of the following areas will be valued:

- Construction, masonry, and small works.
- Carpentry and woodworking.
- Welding and metalwork.
- Plumbing and irrigation systems.
- Mechanics and machinery maintenance.
- Basic electricity.
- Gardening and tree maintenance.
- Forestry work, agroecology, or sustainable land management.
- Bioconstruction, self-construction, or recovery/reuse of materials.

We will especially value practical experience acquired in personal projects, field work, estates, orchards, construction or restoration projects, environmental volunteering, or other activities that demonstrate a real capacity to work with tools, build, and solve problems.

Having training or accreditation for machinery handling, including earthmoving machinery, will also be valued.

A driver's license and own vehicle are required to access the Center.

The role

At Rainfer, we believe that every person on the team contributes, from their area of work, to the well-being of the rescued primates.

We are looking to bring on board a practical, responsible, and resourceful person who enjoys working with their hands and outdoors and wants to contribute through their work to animal welfare and conservation.

The maintenance of our Center is very diverse: we need someone capable of repairing, building, adapting facilities, and finding practical solutions to day-to-day needs. We are not looking for a person who masters every trade, but rather an authentic "handyman" profile, with initiative, manual skill, and a desire to keep learning.
We will value knowledge or experience in areas such as construction and masonry, carpentry, welding, plumbing and irrigation, mechanics, basic electricity, gardening, forestry work, or bioconstruction, without it being necessary to master all these disciplines.
But we are looking for something more. An important part of the work consists of caring for the various hectares of the Center's land, and we want to do so from a perspective that respects nature.
We want to care for an ecosystem.
That is why we are looking for someone who understands that clearing brush does not always mean eliminating all vegetation, that pruning remains can become a resource through shredding and mulching, and that caring for the soil, insects, fungi, wild birds, and vegetation is also part of our commitment to biodiversity.

What you'll do

The position is very varied and combines facilities maintenance, small works, and repairs with the care of the Center's natural environment. Among other tasks:

- General maintenance of facilities and enclosures.

- Identifying and solving small breakdowns.

- Collaborating with the team to ensure efficiency and quality in the facilities and maintenance performed.

- Maintenance of primate enclosures to preserve their well-being (brush clearing, supervision of toxic plants, terrain adaptation for planting, varnishing of structures)

- Maintenance and repair of irrigation systems, drippers, and conduits.

- Selective brush clearing and handling of brush cutters and other tools.

- Pruning and basic maintenance of trees and vegetation.

- Shredding and utilization of plant remains, mulching, and other techniques aimed at protecting and improving the soil.

- Support in actions aimed at promoting the biodiversity of the estate.

- Transfer and collection of materials using the Center's vehicle.

- Complying with safety standards and established regulations during all tasks.

- Maintaining a detailed record of activities performed and reporting any incidents to their supervisor.

3. OTHER ASPECTS

- Identification with the values advocated by the organization.
- Driver's license and availability of a vehicle.
- Possession of an earthmoving machinery operator's license will be taken into consideration.

We offer
- Contract: Permanent with a 2-month probationary period
- Start date: September 2026
- Working day: 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 18:00
