About the role

We are looking for a Cognitive AI, Agents, and Human Interaction profile that combines artificial intelligence engineering skills with sensitivity to human factors, cognitive psychology, human-machine interaction, and evaluation of human-centered intelligent systems. The role is focused on supporting the design, implementation, experimentation, and validation of cognitive AI solutions capable of interpreting language, processing context, reasoning about goals, generating plans, interacting with humans, and supporting decision or automation tasks in security, robotics, cybersecurity, and defense environments.

What you'll do

Implementation of cognitive AI modules:

  • Implement components for language understanding, intent classification, entity extraction, constraints, and context.
  • Develop prototypes for generating structured specifications, plans, task trees, or conceptual Behavior Trees.

Development of interactive agents and systems:

  • Collaborate on the development of agents based on LLMs, RAG, embeddings, memory, tools, and decision flows.
  • Implement human-machine interaction tests through text, voice, graphical interfaces, simulators, or robotic environments.

Cognitive, behavioral modeling and human factors

  • Define conceptual frameworks based on attention, memory, perception, decision-making, mental workload, learning, and trust.
  • Translate psychological and cognitive constructs into measurable variables applicable to AI systems.

Experimentation, evaluation, and data analysis:

  • Run training, validation, and comparison experiments for AI models.
  • Prepare datasets, clean data, document preprocessing processes, and ensure experimental traceability.

Generative AI, multimodal models, and decision support systems:

  • Use APIs and LLM frameworks for generation, classification, extraction, reasoning, and evaluation tasks.
  • Implement basic or intermediate prompting flows, embeddings, RAG, vector stores, and response evaluation.

MLOps, quality, security, and documentation:

  • Use Git, GitHub/GitLab, and collaborative development best practices.
  • Support reproducible pipelines with MLflow, DVC, Docker, notebooks, and basic CI/CD.

Requirements

  • Mandatory requirement: Hold a Disability Certificate equal to or greater than 33%, legally recognized and in force.

Education:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related disciplines.

Or:

  • Neuroscience, Cognitive Sciences, Human Factors, Cognitive Ergonomics, HCI, or related disciplines.
  • Additional training valued in AI, data science, statistics, programming, robotics, autonomous systems, cybersecurity, or simulation.

Experience:

  • Practical experience in Python, data analysis, prototyping AI models, or developing technological solutions.
  • Experience in academic projects, personal projects, internships, R&D collaborations, or professional environments related to AI, data, HCI, or human factors.
  • Valuable experience in NLP, generative AI, agents, simulation, audio, vision, robotics, or cybersecurity.
  • Valuable experience in designing and analyzing behavioral experiments.
  • Valuable experience in psychological, cognitive, usability, or human factors evaluation.

Technical skills:

  • Programming: Python as the main language; C++ is a plus.
  • AI/ML frameworks: PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, scikit-learn.
  • Data: Pandas, NumPy, visualization, notebooks, cleaning, and data analysis.
  • Deep learning fundamentals: CNN, RNN/LSTM, transformers, and basic generative models.
  • Basic or intermediate knowledge of LLMs, embeddings, RAG, prompting, model APIs, and agents.
  • Version control: Git, GitHub/GitLab.
  • Valuable: Docker, MLflow, DVC, CI/CD, ROS2, audio processing, computer vision, or simulators.
  • Applied statistics, experimental design, and behavioral analysis.

Benefits and conditions

  • Permanent contract.
  • Flexible working hours so you can balance your personal life and professional development. Flexible start and end times.
  • Hybrid model (Carabanchel area). 60% remote work / 40% on-site presence.
  • Compensation aligned with your experience, training, and development.
  • Flexible compensation.
  • 23 working days of vacation plus additional days per collective agreement.
  • Facility accessibility: Offices located in Carabanchel equipped with an elevator at the rear of the building (the restrooms at the workplace are not adapted for severe reduced mobility).
