We are looking to bring on board a Control Center Operations and Support Technician to join the Peninsula and Balearic Islands Control Center Support Department of Red Eléctrica.

What you'll do

  1. Analyze and propose updates to regulations, procedures, and operational processes for system operation (peninsular or non-peninsular territories).
  2. Coordinate and provide support for the implementation and monitoring of operational processes with the teams involved, ensuring their proper adoption and performance.
  3. Participate in the design, manage, and maintain the configuration, operational data, and databases associated with the real-time operation of the peninsular electricity system and the extra-peninsular systems, ensuring the maintenance of quality and efficiency.
  4. Participate in the definition and integration of new installations into the operating systems (remote controls, parameters, documentation, and testing).
  5. Prepare operation studies and analyses and future grid scenarios within the assigned scope, to anticipate issues and define preventive/corrective actions.
  6. Participate in the definition, specification, and implementation studies of new transmission grid elements.
  7. Conduct grid analyses and studies for the commissioning of new transmission grid installations, as well as collaborate in managing the commissioning of new non-transmission installations.
  8. Design and prepare reports on real-time operation or services managed by the SO, whether periodic or on demand (including requests from public administrations or other official bodies), as well as reports on optimizing and improving operation processes.
  9. Analyze incidents and operational events and provide feedback to the operation shift to improve criteria, procedures, and operational learning.
  10. Monitor anomalies and deviations in operational data/tools and propose corrective actions to reduce incidents and improve the reliability of the operating environment.
  11. Participate in the definition, testing, and improvement of real-time operation support tools to increase the effectiveness and quality of the operational process, as well as in innovation projects.
  12. Participate in the design and/or development of services associated with system operation (including the necessary tools), such as balancing services, the automatic power reduction system, or other emerging services.
  13. Identify, propose, and develop solutions for undesired responses from generation technologies to various damping, oscillation, or other emerging issues.
  14. Participate in the methodology and development of applications for conducting dynamic studies in scheduling horizons and in real time.
  15. Participate in the design of the new voltage control service, as well as in the development of the tools required for its implementation and in managing qualification tests.
  16. Participate in the development of tools for monitoring system magnitudes in real time.
  17. Participate in national and international working groups and in institutional relations.
  18. Lead cross-functional projects when applicable within the scope of their duties.
  19. Participate in the training of operators.

Requirements

  • Education: Degree in Industrial Engineering or demonstrable experience in the duties of the position. 
  • Desired experience: 3-5 years, with other profiles with different levels of experience also considered.
  • Knowledge and experience in electricity system operation will be valued.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, electrical engineering, power systems, voltage control, load flows, and stability.
  • Programming knowledge in electrical simulation and programming tools (PSSE, MATLAB, Python, Simulink) is desirable.
  • Project management knowledge will be valued.
  • Experience in international working groups will be valued.
  • Advanced English level (minimum B2). 
  • Availability for occasional travel.
