We are looking to bring on board a System Security Technician - Protections/Settings to join the System Security Department team at Red Eléctrica.

What you'll do

  1. Define and develop the general protection criteria and the coordination and selectivity criteria for protection systems.
  2. Calculate and coordinate protection settings for the Transmission Grid, ensuring coherence and selectivity with agents at border points.
  3. Define protective schemes for Transmission Grid elements and select the applicable criteria and technologies.
  4. Participate in access, connection and commissioning processes for new elements, verifying correct protection and safe integration.
  5. Participate in standardization and homologation processes (protections, event and disturbance recorders, and quality equipment), defining testing and validation methods (in coordination with the laboratory when applicable).
  6. Participate in special projects, verifying protection coordination.
  7. Analyze, identify and develop proposals for improving system operation in collaboration with the rest of the RE units, regarding the implementation and modification of protection systems.

Requirements

  • Between 5 and 10 years (flexible) 
  • University degree and master's degree in electrical engineering. 
  • Advanced English level (B2). 
  • Expert handling and use of protection manufacturer software. 
  • Expert knowledge in calculating settings and coordinating protections in transmission grids. 
  • Knowledge of protections and power electronics applied to generation plants, mainly hydroelectric. 
  • Knowledge of protection testing and commissioning. 
  • Knowledge of interpreting electrical diagrams and automatic systems. 
  • Knowledge of oscillography and incident analysis. 
  • Knowledge of protection communication protocols. 
  • Initiative, creativity, proactivity at work, global vision, team coordination skills, adaptability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and teamwork skills. 
  • Communication skills.
