Embedded Software Engineer for Space Systems

A minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience in embedded software development, preferably in projects within the space, defense, or critical systems sector, with hands-on experience in embedded software development environments and real-time systems.

We are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join a space sector project focused on the development of Core Avionics for satellites, participating in the design, development, and integration of software embedded in space platforms. The professional will join an engineering team specialized in critical systems, collaborating on the implementation of software solutions that operate directly on embedded hardware and are part of the satellite's control and operation subsystems.

Responsibilities include the development of real-time embedded software, following quality and development standards applicable to space and aerospace systems. The role involves working on the design of software modules, implementation of functionalities, and adaptation of software to embedded computing architectures used in space systems.

Additionally, the professional will participate in software integration, verification, and validation activities, including the execution of tests in representative hardware environments and specific test benches used in space systems. These activities include test definition, results analysis, and collaboration with systems and hardware engineering teams to ensure the correct operation of the software within the complete system.

The role requires working with software engineering methodologies and tools used in high-criticality environments, contributing to the technical documentation of the design and to software configuration control processes. The position will be carried out in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams within space engineering projects with high reliability, traceability, and software quality requirements.

Hybrid model with 80% remote work, with the possibility of occasionally attending the Málaga office for team coordination or activities requiring on-site work with project hardware.

Minimum experience of 3 years in embedded software development, preferably in projects within the space, defense, or critical systems sector.

Experience in design and development of real-time embedded software for space or aerospace environments.

Advanced programming in C and Python.

Experience with configuration control tools (Git, SVN).

Solid knowledge of multitasking systems and real-time operating systems (RTEMS, VxWorks, FreeRTOS).

Knowledge of embedded computing architectures (ARM Cortex, RISC-V, PowerPC).

Experience with hardware communication interfaces (CAN, RS422/485, LVDS).

Experience in software verification and validation, test definition, and use of test benches EGSE/SCOE.

Knowledge of system design and documentation methodologies (UML, SysML).

Knowledge of MISRA-C coding standards.

Valuable experience with containers (Docker, Podman), continuous integration (Jenkins), and DevOps environments.
