Job description

At TECNALIA we have created a Quantum Technologies team whose mission is to help companies tackle some of the great technological and industrial challenges of the future through the development and application of advanced quantum technologies. We work in quantum computing, quantum sensing and quantum communications, collaborating with companies and institutions to accelerate the transfer of these technologies to the market.

To strengthen our Quantum Computing line, we are looking to bring on board a researcher with a broad vision of the discipline, capable of combining knowledge in quantum optimization and quantum simulation, acting as a bridge between both fields and participating in applied research and technological innovation projects.

What will you do?

The selected candidate will join the Quantum Technologies team and will take part in the design, development and implementation of advanced quantum solutions for different industrial sectors.

What you'll do

The main responsibilities will be:

Quantum simulation

Model industrial problems that can be addressed through quantum optimization and quantum simulation techniques.

Design and implement optimization algorithms based on Quantum Annealing, gate-based quantum computing and hybrid quantum-classical approaches.

Develop quantum simulation models and methodologies for the study of complex physical, chemical or industrial systems.

Evaluate and compare different computational paradigms, with a special focus on Quantum Annealing and gate-based computing.

Identify technological transfer opportunities between the fields of quantum optimization and quantum simulation.

Take part in defining new research lines and in generating intellectual property and scientific output.

Carry out technology watch and continuous monitoring of the state of the art in quantum computing.

Contribute to the preparation of R&D proposals for national, international and European programs.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain technical dialogue with clients, partners and collaborators.

We are looking for a person with experience in several of the following areas:

Quantum computing applied to optimization problems.

Quantum simulation of physical or chemical systems.

Quantum Annealing and formulation of combinatorial optimization problems.

Gate-based quantum computing.

Hybrid quantum-classical algorithms.

Scientific programming and software development in quantum computing environments.

Quantum frameworks and platforms such as Qiskit, PennyLane, Cirq, D-Wave Ocean or equivalent.

Knowledge of quantum machine learning and variational algorithms.

Experience in applied research and technology transfer.

Languages

Proficiency in English and Spanish, both spoken and written.
