About the role

Join WSP: high-level technical projects

At WSP, we are a global leader in engineering specialized in infrastructure, transportation, energy, environment, and building. We work on landmark projects where your technical knowledge will be put to the test in demanding, high-value environments.

Due to strong growth in our Energy | WSP area, we want to add to our Transmission team in Madrid, Valladolid, Santander, or Valencia a High Power of Engineer (OHL/UGC) to lead the design and engineering review of HV lines and underground cables in national and international projects.

What you'll do

Your responsibilities will include leading the design and review of High Power of Line engineering, both overhead (OHL) and underground (UGC), in conceptual, basic, and detailed phases. You will perform mechanical calculations—catenary, sag, tension, and climatic loads—and define clearances, crossings, and insulation and safety criteria. You will prepare reports, drawings, specifications, and BOQs, providing technical support in tenders and procurement. You will coordinate interfaces with civil, structures, and substations, as well as collaborate on permitting processes (corridors, easements, and constraints). You will also review deliverables, ensure quality through design checks, and support team growth by mentoring junior and intermediate profiles.

What we're looking for

We are looking for a professional with training in Technical or Higher Industrial Engineering (Electrical), Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, with B2/C1 English and more than 10 years of experience in the design and review of High Power of lines (132–400 kV), as well as relevant exposure to underground HV cables (UGC). Proficiency in PLS‑CADD and/or PLS‑TOWER is essential, along with AutoCAD and an advanced level of Excel for calculations and report preparation. A solid knowledge of IEC/UNE standards, clearances, wind and ice loads, crossing criteria, and constructability aspects is also required.

Nice to have

Knowledge of ampacity and UGC design using tools such as CYMCAP or equivalents will be valued, as will bonding criteria and thermal studies. Experience in BIM/GIS methodologies applied to corridors, document management, and support in proposals, tenders, and technical specifications will also be a plus, providing a complete view of the design cycle and consolidating the technical excellence of the area.

What you'll get

  • Stable position with flexible working hours, compatible with your personal life.

  • Continuous training in cutting-edge technologies and project management.

  • Flexible compensation (health insurance, transport, meal vouchers, childcare).

  • Professional development with international scope.

  • Access to exclusive employee discounts.
