We're a Madrid-based engineering team building basket building experiences for a worldwide audience — starting with Europe as our priority and expanding across the US and beyond. Our work sits at the intersection of large-scale distributed systems, personalization, and customer-facing experiences that reach millions of shoppers. On this team, engineers are partners in product decisions, not just executors — you'll help decide what we build and why, then own building it.

A day in the life

Our engineers work end-to-end on the basket building experience — from idea and tech design through implementation, deployment, and weblab experimentation. On a typical day you'll collaborate directly with PMTs, UX designers, and applied scientists to flesh out software requirements and shape what we build, then turn those ideas into high-scale services that reach customers worldwide.

You'll spend your time designing and building the services we own, reviewing designs and code with the team, and running experiments to measure customer impact. While we own core components, expect some away-team work with partner teams across regions as we expand from Europe to the US and beyond. For the services we own, be prepared for DevOps work — we invest in strong CI/CD and maintain a high operational excellence bar so we can ship fast and safely.

As a Software Development Engineer on our team, you will:

- Help define product direction alongside product managers and scientists — bringing your technical insight to shape what we build, not just how

- Design, build, and operate high-scale, low-latency services that power personalized basket building experiences across Amazon's worldwide marketplaces

- Own features end-to-end — from design and implementation to deployment and operational excellence — in a modern AWS-native environment

- Raise the bar on engineering quality through code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer who is excited to solve ambiguous, high-scale problems and help decide not just how we build, but what we build. In this role you will:

- Design, develop, deliver, and support major components of our basket building experience, serving millions of customers worldwide

- Partner with product managers, scientists, and engineers to shape product direction — turning ambiguous customer problems into clear, measurable solutions

- Own features end-to-end, from design and implementation through deployment and ongoing operational support, in a modern AWS-native environment

- Influence the team's technical direction and drive engineering best practices for quality, performance, and operational excellence

- Collaborate with partner teams across regions as we expand from Europe to the US and beyond

- Learn from high-performing engineers and mentor more junior members of the team
