IT/DC and Databackbone Senior Engineer - IRIS2

Hispasat, as part of the SpaceRISE consortium, is responsible for the technical implementation and ensuring the success of the IRIS² project, leveraging its extensive experience in satellite communications. This collaboration is essential to provide secure and reliable high-performance communication solutions to the European Union and its member states.

To be part of this project, we are looking for IT, Data Center & Databackbone Senior Engineer. The responsibilities of the position are as follows:

Responsibilities

• Define IT, network, data-centre, data-backbone and virtualisation requirements for the IRIS² multi-orbit satellite Ground Segment.
• Define the high-level architecture for IT infrastructure, networks, data centres, storage, compute and virtualisation platforms.
• Define implementation, integration and test plans for the proposed infrastructure subsystems.
• Perform the technical follow-up of subcontractor activities related to design, requirements compliance, development and validation.
• Support the higher-level integration of infrastructure, network and data-centre subsystems into the Ground Segment.
• Coordinate interfaces with cybersecurity, M&C, OSS/BSS, 5G Core, Ground Stations and operational systems.
• Support capacity, availability, resilience and continuity trade-offs and the resolution of technical anomalies.

Location

• Arganda del Rey, Madrid, Spain.

• Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in telecommunications or mission-critical IT infrastructure.
• Experience configuring switches and networks and managing virtualised environments.
• Knowledge of virtualisation and cloud platforms.
• Experience with data-centre infrastructure, compute, storage, network services and data backbones.
• Knowledge of high-availability, redundancy, monitoring and business-continuity principles.
• Experience in managing or technically coordinating technology projects and subcontractors.
• Knowledge of satellite communications is considered an asset.
• Nationality of an EU Member State and willingness to undergo an EU Secret clearance process.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken; any other European language is considered an asset.
