About the role

Hispasat, as part of the SpaceRISE consortium, is responsible for the technical implementation and ensuring the success of the IRIS² project, leveraging its extensive experience in satellite communications. This collaboration is essential to provide secure and reliable high-performance communication solutions to the European Union and its member states.

To be part of this project, we are looking for Ground Station Senior Engineer. The responsibilities of the position are as follows:

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Define, specify, procure, integrate and validate Ground Stations for the IRIS² Ground Segment.
  • Define and manage technical requirements and interfaces for antennas, RF chains, modems, baseband equipment, timing systems and Monitoring and Control systems.
  • Support procurement activities, including preparation of technical inputs to RFPs, evaluation of bids and technical coordination of suppliers.
  • Supervise the integration and validation of Ground Station subsystems and their interfaces with the wider Ground Segment.
  • Support the deployment of new Ground Stations and the upgrade of existing facilities.
  • Perform RF link budgets and system-level performance assessments.
  • Contribute to the cybersecurity and information-protection requirements applicable to Ground Station systems.
  • Collaborate with system engineering, network, security, IVV and operations teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support the resolution of technical anomalies during validation and operations.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of DVB-S2/S2X, CCSDS or equivalent satellite communication standards is considered an asset.
  • Experience with cybersecurity requirements for Ground Segment infrastructure is considered an asset.
  • Experience in institutional programmes and public procurement environments is considered an asset.

Languages

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken; any other European language is considered an asset.

How you'll work

Location

  • Arganda del Rey, Madrid, Spain.

Visa & relocation

  • Nationality of an EU Member State and willingness to undergo an EU Secret clearance process.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics Engineering or an equivalent field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in satellite communications or Ground Segment engineering.
  • Experience with RF systems, antennas, baseband processing, modems, M&C systems and Ground Station architecture.
  • Knowledge of RF link budgets and satellite-to-ground interface protocols.
  • Experience coordinating suppliers and reviewing technical documentation.
  • Experience in the integration and validation of Ground Station equipment.
