As a leading company in the defense sector, we are looking to hire an Avionics Software and Standards Engineer to participate in strategic European projects within the European Defence Fund (EDF), contributing to the definition and adoption of advanced standards for next-generation avionic systems.

What you'll do

  • Analyze and evaluate software standards for avionics and embedded systems, with a special focus on mission and interoperability standards (e.g., FACE, ECOA).
  • Participate in the analysis, monitoring, and adoption of European and international standardization initiatives, collaborating with working groups and specialized forums.
  • Evaluate and justify standardization approaches based on technical, regulatory, and operational needs of defense systems.
  • Identify and recommend tools and frameworks that facilitate the implementation, validation, and adoption of standards.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, architecture, and quality teams, ensuring the practical applicability of standards in real development environments.
  • Contribute to the generation of technical documentation associated with the different lifecycle phases (PDR, CDR, TRR, FDR).
  • Lead and participate in technical discussions with European industrial partners within the program.

✅ Experience in software engineering for complex systems, preferably in avionics, defense, or embedded systems.
✅ Knowledge and/or experience in avionics software standards (FACE, ECOA, or others similar).
✅ Solid foundation in software development, integration, and architecture.
✅ Knowledge in systems engineering and technical documentation associated with V-Model cycles.
✅ Experience or interest in model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
✅ Communication skills to participate in multinational collaborative environments.
✅ Technical / operational English for working with European consortia.
✅ Availability to work in Alcobendas with a hybrid model (40% annual teleworking).

The project

You will be part of the EDF IS - FCAS project, within the framework of EICACS (European Initiative for Collaborative Air Combat Standardisation), a key European initiative aimed at:

  • Defining interoperability standards for collaborative air combat.
  • Facilitating the integration of manned and unmanned platforms, sensors, and mission systems.
  • Ensuring the technological sovereignty and interoperability of future European air combat systems.

This project is co-financed by the European Union through the European Defence Fund and brings together the main industrial players and European defense research centers.
