Requirements

What we're looking for

Demonstrable experience as an upholsterer, preferably with vehicle interior parts.
Proficiency in working with skin and synthetic materials (cutting, tensioning, gluing, and finishing).
Handling of industrial sewing machines.
Great manual dexterity and attention to detail in finishing.
Availability to work on-site at the plant, and in shifts if the position requires it.

Nice to have

Experience with vehicle manufacturers (OEM) or Tier 1 or Tier 2 interior suppliers.
Experience covering steering wheels or performing visible decorative stitching.
Work on prototypes, short series, or premium vehicles.
Knowledge of sector quality standards (IATF 16949, 5S).
Experience with thermoforming or vacuum forming.
Training in upholstery, garment making, or similar.

The role

We are looking for an Upholsterer with experience in the automotive sector to join a project for a major client in the sector. Their work will involve covering and upholstering vehicle interior parts, such as steering wheels, dashboards, door panels, consoles, knobs, armrests, and seats. They will work with skin, synthetic leather, Alcantara, and fabrics, and must meet the finishing and quality standards required by the client.

What you'll do

Hand-cover and upholster interior parts according to specifications and pattern samples.
Cut, glue, tension, staple, and finish materials onto the part.
Machine sew (flat stitch, double stitch, and decorative stitching) and hand sew when necessary.
Prepare surfaces and apply adhesives using a spray gun, brush, or heat activation.
Visually inspect the finish to detect wrinkles and bubbles, and check that seams are aligned and symmetrical.
Meet cycle times and the plant's quality and safety standards.
